What series should I watch next..

I recommend Supernatural (wholeheartedly, not in the backhanded "guilty pleasure" way TallGuyMe recommended it). The show is a lot like the "Monster of the Week" X-Files episodes ONLY (no Alien stuff whatsoever) with its own backstory of these "hunters" and their subculture that gets more and more filled in as the show goes on. Overall, it's a good hour-long little horror movie each week, with some good humor mixed in.

Haha that's 3 votes now for a show he already mentioned watching in his first post.
I'll throw out a slightly older show recommendation, The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. A western/sci-fi drama with a lot of humor and a lot of heart. Only ran for one season but doesn't really leave any storylines hanging.

I'd definitely say Smallville. I have all seasons except for the one about to come out. I have to watch Heroes and Friday Night Lights myself still after I finish this anime boxset I just started 2 days ago.

Looks like Friday Night Lights and Everwood are my next stops, with Roswell as a backup and I'll jot down the other ones as well - thanks for great suggestions.
(Already saw a bunch of the ones mentioned like Heroes, the new Dr. Who etc - couldnt remember all the shows right off the bat).
And 3 votes for Buffy.. I may have to watch it again - seeing the 'Buffy Horror Picture Show' at Dragon*Con made me want to

I guess that identifies my genre? Currently watching (and liking) Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, Lost etc.
Currently 'backorder' watching Veronica Mars (See other thread - loving it).
I was thinking about Smallville or Roswell? Everwood maybe? Havent seen any of either.
What are some other candidates?

it sounds like you really like the sci fi shows. Yeah roswell and smallville are good if you like the sci fi. If you never saw star trek the next generation, that is a classic tv show- the first three or four seasons were really good.
Other classics are Dr Who, the twilight zone, x-files.
here is a list i found on google, i dont really agree with some of those picks, i dont think the original star trek is the number 1 sci fi show of all time, it is a solid show but i dont like it as much as twilight zone, tng, babylon 5, etc

Don't do smallville, seriously. I mean, just don't. It isn't terrible, but it isn't great either. It's very much in the Xena/Highlander vein of tv, but not as good as either of those shows.
Everwood is fantastic, but there is only one season on dvd so you might have to use ninja tactics to get the rest.
Friday Night Lights is a good one. It is only a season commitment.

Xena: Warrior Princess.
The first season is a tad hokey; its good, but with many flaws (as everything, but more than usual here). Also, if you notice closely, Lucy Lawless who isn't American, can hear her Kiwi accent (Australian sounding) as she isn't used to playing the Xena role yet.
You may want to watch Hercules too, but it isn't necessary for X:WP watching. For one who had watched both during its original air, maybe my perspective is different point of view. You know, nostalgia and all that. The option is yours. I recommend the first season; the first season set is a great price on Amazon.com, the 5 two hour telemovies precede the first season episodes. [The last 3 or 4 episodes of the set were Xena's first appearance, called appropriately 'the Xena trilogy'. Unfortunately, these episodes in the Hercules S1 set were edited. There is a that has these 3 episodes uncut. Luckily for me, I saw the uncut version first (when I bought the DVDs, I mean.)]
Although this is from a fan's point of view, be sure to look out for Lucy Lawless in two other, completely different roles throughout the Hercules show, before playing Xena!
Back to Xena.
Each X:WP season gets better and better (acting, cinematography, writing, etc) and its peak IMO is the fourth season. It goes extremely downhill in the 5th and 6th season, but you'll make that decision.

Well, since you seem to be into Sci-Fi, how do you feel about Star Trek? Deep Space Nine would be the one to watch out of all various incarnations, particularly if you enjoyed Babylon 5.
No matter what anyone else says, I'll always highly recommend Roswell, too. That show's one of my all-time faves.
Odyssey 5 was another great, yet short lived Showtime sci-fi show. The only frustrating thing about it, is that the show got canceled without any resolution. But I'd say it's still worth seeing.
Likewise for Tru Calling, which stars Eliza Dushku, and was another very good show that never really got a finish, but deserved one. There's a complete first season, and about eight episodes for season two.
And there's always Veronica Mars, too. The second and third seasons are ok, but the first is awesome.
