Saving Grace----Series Premiere "Pilot" 7/23/07 10pm on TNT

I will definitely check this one out tonight. However, I can see this show not appealing to alot of people considering it deals a little with religion and then throw in a little police procedural drama as well. But, Holly Hunter should make it worthwhile.

Synopsis:
Spoiler:
Debut: A gritty crime series centering on hard-living Oklahoma City detective Grace Hanadarko (Holly Hunter), who experiences a spiritual awakening upon encountering an enigmatic angel (Leon Rippy). First up: A 10-year-old girl vanishes, prompting a desperate investigation; and Grace is involved in a fatal drunken-driving accident. Hunter also serves as the show's producer.

Goody, maybe now I won't have to hear that commercial every commercial break whenever I watch TNT.

DJariya 07-23-07 12:39 PM

Yeah I agree, I think if there is such a word as "Overpromotion", this show would fall under that Realm.

das Monkey 07-23-07 01:03 PM

I'm not familiar with this series. Is this the underground super-secret show with Glenn Close?

das

That's Damages on FX which premieres tomorrow. I guess you don't watch alot on TNT since they play promos for this at every commercial break.

I think your sarcasm meter is broken.

das schedules his day around Law & Order reruns;)

DJariya 07-23-07 01:18 PM

Oh Okay, I wasn't sure if he was being sarcastic or if he honestly didn't watch TNT...my bad!

Mondo Kane 07-23-07 09:07 PM

Sex scene was a nice start!

riley_dude 07-23-07 11:37 PM

I have not watched it yet but have always loved Hunter since Broadcast News.
I hear it is kindve the anti-Touched by an Angel.

MrX 07-23-07 11:49 PM

I had a hard time making it through the hour. I thought it was terrible.

nateman 07-24-07 07:40 AM

I wonder if they will ever come up with a Drama that isn't a crime series?

Heartland & Saved aren't crime series.

DJariya 07-24-07 11:45 PM

You guys should see how this show is being trashed on the TNT message boards by angry parents and religious fanatics for it's sex and depiction of religion. It's ridiculous!! Some fucking idiotic parents thought they could watch this with their kids.

Checked out those boards. I now want to shoot myself. :suicide:

Charlie Goose 07-25-07 07:16 AM

Forgot it was on, but I'm sure TNT will repeat it. Seems interesting. You had me at Angel Leon Rippy. :)

 Hilarious stuff. I especially love the "Call TNT request to clean it up" thread. I agree that if you think it's to "EXPLICIT" then don't watch it & don't ruin it for other people that arn't so uptight.
You think these parents would have enough common sense to realize that it isn't going to be a family show when it comes on right after The Closer.

OMFG. If I had to see one more fucking commercial for this. That fucking "Dixie Chicks" song. Holly talking out of the side of her mouth explaining the fucking character of Grace.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:hairpull: :hairpull: :hairpull:

I thought the show was pretty good, and the lesson is relevant because we don't all go through life as the archetypes of moral behavior. I like the depiction of redemption as a universal concept, even for the most depraved, non-believers among us. It will challenge those who are unwilling to suspend their disbelief, however.

riley_dude 07-29-07 11:43 PM

I enjoyed it and am looking forward to seeing where this is going to go.
Screw all the religious fanatics who are protesting because they don't think they would like it.

Lokimok 12-11-07 01:44 AM

Hey, how come none of you mugs told me the show was back on? I'm the only one who kinda liked it? Looks like I only missed one episode.

I think I did too. I had to delete my season pass off of TiVo because lame-ass TNT never labeled the repeats as repeats so I kept recording episodes I'd seen. -ohbfrank- How many are left? 3?

DJariya 12-11-07 09:16 AM

Unfortunately I had to stop watching this after episode 3.....Fall TV was coming and Tivo was backlogged.

Yes, there are 3 more episodes left for Season 1. If the writer's strike ever ends, Season 2 with 15 episodes will premiere next Spring.
