Reaper Pilot Episode
NO SPOILERS
This show has potential, a fairly light hearted action comedy drama with a supernatural twist. The cast are likeable enough. If this show gets picked up, i'd check it out for a few episodes

Not a bad show at all. It seem to be a bit bland as far as settings go at first but I am hoping that is because of Kevin directing it. While I am like his work some stuff he does is a tad flat because he focuses so much on dialog.
I don't watch much TV but I buy a ton of it. I am certainly up to giving this show a chance. Just not sure if I can wait from week to week or if I should just wait and buy it later on down the road.

The show got picked up for a 13-episode run (more episodes could be ordered depending on how the first episodes fare) and Nikki Reed got shitcanned (thankfully).

I refuse to watch it on principle. They cancel Veronica Mars and greenlight this? No thanks, CW. You'll get one more season of Smallville out of me and then we part ways for good.

They should not have named Brett Harrison's Reaper character "Sam" (because I still think of him as "Sam" on "The Loop", but if they could work in a "Thesis" reference).
This is sort of the male version of the Buffy show, where it's a guy claiming bad souls loose on the world, and has his own gang of Scoobies, and bratty younger brother.

This pilot didn't really do anything for me. The premise isn't that original, the dialog was mediocre and the jackass best friend was very annoying. I was looking forward to it since hearing Smith talk about directing it, but it just fell flat.
FYI, in a different podcast Smith also mentioned they had to reshoot some scenes because they replaced the hot 'friend' with Missy Peregrym, from Heroes. And I think Kevin made it clear that he isn't going be regularly involved with the show. It was a one time thing to see if he was up to directing material that wasn't his own.

Well played, Clerks...
But I'm in it more out of obligation now. It's been 6 years, I can't ditch it in its final season even if it requires me to shut my brain off and spark up prior to any viewing.

I think there's some potential, but over all, I can't see the storyline working in the long run without going into tired cliches.
I thought it'd be funny if the main characters were replaced by Dante and Randall. And Smith joked when someone in the comic con audience mentioned about having an appearance by the Golgathan from Dogma.

I really enjoyed this pilot. Had the right mix of comedy, drama and supernatural stuff. The effects and action were pretty decent too.
Plus, I need a good Buffy replacement - this looks to fit the bill nicely.
I also didn't have any issues with Nikki Reed. She seemed like a good fit with the rest of the cast. And pretty cute to boot!

I thought this was just ok. The humor was fairly juvenile and I did not care for the characters much. I thought Chuck, which has a similar nerd becomes superhero premise was much funnier with more engaging characters.
