Do you really still love all the movies and TV shows that you loved as a child? There's NOTHING that you thought was boring as a child but love now?
People grow, people change, perceptions change, that's how someone can start to like a show that they once didn't like.

I never liked the show until just a few years ago. Something clicked, and I started finding it hilarious. I'm in a much different place in my life, than I was a few years ago, so that may be why I like it now.
People change, ktown, that is why I revisit things I didn't once like. I do it with movies, music, and especially food.

I agree with people that things change, people change, etc...
Now I know you won't believe this but I used too hate Scrubs, Thought it was the stupidest fucking this I have every seen when it first started. It finally took my Aunt 3 years for me to even consider trying the show again. Guess what?, I did & now you all know that I think it's a brilliant, smart & superbly written/acted comedy.
It's now the same thing with Seinfeld. The main reason that I hated the show was because I hated the characters & wouldn't even give it 5 minutes per episode because I found them to be a bunch of assholes, But now that I have seen a couple of full episodes I understand why people like it & it can be hilarious because of the things those people do & for a show about "nothing" it sure speaks my language now.
Tommorow when I go get my new DVD releases I am going to look for the Seinfeld DVDs. I don't know if I will have enough money for all 7 DVD releases currently out but I'll get seasons 1 & 2 and season 3 for sure.
I've heard that Seasons 1 & 2 were alittle less good then the rest of the series, is that true? Anyways I'll pick those 2 DVD releases up & probally the rest the tuesday after or wait ti'll my birthday on August 10th.
For the record, I am very excited that I like Seinfeld now because this was no.1 on the WTF didn't I like this show list & from what I have seen so far from the show is that it looks like I have been missing out on some genius television. So thank god for DVDs!

1 & 2 are good, but like cdollaz says, your newfound love may perish upon watching them. They are very rough and easier to appreciate where they were coming from, after having a grasp on the series.
Unless you have an open mind and realize that everything didn't really gel until season 3.

I have an open mind when it comes to first seasons (& sometimes second) because I know with alot of now great shows, it takes sometime for everything to come full circle. 30 Rock was one of those ex. this year.

I'm not going to get ahead of myself but if I like Seinfeld would I like Curb Your Entusiasm as well? I've heard it's a darker version of Seinfeld & uses the "Guest Stars playing themselves" thing which The Larry Sanders Show did brilliantly.
I think I might "Blind Buy" it on DVD if it's a good show but if it's a total waste of time I won't.

I love Curb, and it is very similar to some aspects of Seinfeld, especially George situations. Some people get quickly annoyed by Larry David though, but I would recommend it for sure.

I watched an early episode of Seinfeld (probably in season 2 at the time) and HATED it. Told my friends I'd rather watch cows chew cud than watch another epiode of that lame new show.
For some reason, about two years later, I watched another one...and LOVED it. I was then hooked for life.
Funny thing is, I was the same way with Curb Your Enthusiasm.

And IMO, Seinfeld started out rough, got a lot better, then waned a little in the final season.

I bought seasons 1 & 2 of Seinfeld & watched the first disc (season 1) & Althrough the show is a little rough, it still is quite funny. The Pilot Episode was actually pretty good besides the fact that Kramer was name "Kessler" & the resturant they were in at the beginning of the episode is completely different. His apartment is different also but was nicely explained in the "Inside Look" special feature. I watched bother versions of the pilot & the only difference I saw was that the music is different.
-"The Stakeout" was an entertaining episode & George saying he was going to lie & say he was an architect was hilarious. Nice too see Raquel Ochmonek
as Seinfelds mother.
-"The Robbery" was another good one & I loved the end where none of them end up getting the apartment.
-"Male Unbonding" was my least favorite episode out of the 5 but the part with Kramer coming up with the idea too have his own "Make your own Pizza" resturant was pretty good & I actually saw the episode "The Couch" (which was funnier then almost every season 1 episode) in syndication yesterday so I at least know what happens latter in the series.
The Final Season 1 episode "The Stock Tip" wasn't a great episode either but the part with Elaine wanting to find a hitman to kill the cats was funny though.
All in All they were some pretty good episodes & some not too bad ones. All of them were entertaining & I will continue tommorow with season 2 (disc 2, onwards). I will most def. be getting more seasons of Seinfeld on DVD though.
I love the "Inside Look" features on all the episodes (exept their wasn't one on "The Stock Tip") they were all pretty short with the longest length reaching only over 5 minutes each. I think that Jerry Seinfeld said something real brilliant though in one of them by saying that the reason why all the episode have "The ....." as the start of the title is because he wanted the writers working extra hard on the episode instead of coming up with clever little episode titles.
When I bought the DVD yesterday & brought it home I sat their for a minute holding the DVD going wow, I can't believe a show I hated for years is now in my home & is going to be part of my DVD Collection... I now regret saying Seinfeld is a awful show because it is indeed the exact oppisite, it's a brilliant sitcom & I wish Studio Audience/Laugh Track sitcoms were as good today as Seinfeld was.
I havn't watched all 180 episodes of Seinfeld yet so I won't say it's better or funnier than Scrubs or The Larry Sanders Show but I can see why Seinfeld is as highly regarded as my 2 other favorite comedies.
I will most def. pick up season 1 of "Curb" but I think I'm going to continue with Seinfeld for now & try "Curb" after. I'll keep you updated & thanks too the people who gave me shit for not liking Seinfeld because I really do Love Seinfeld now & I wouldn't have probally tried it without a little pressure.

I'm in the same camp. Didn't care for it in primetime, but gave it a chance in syndication and couldn't stop watching. Hilarious stuff.
PS I think you'll find that seasons 1 and 2 weren't the strongest of the show. Most people concur that it really starts rolling in seasons 3 and 4. So you've got a lot of great stuff to look forward to.
