That's not right...there were only 24 episodes produced for Season 2.

The episodes from Season 1 + the episodes from Season 2 would equal 39, so perhaps you misread or perhaps the person writing the piece was misinformed.

The Beverly Hillbillies produced 36 episodes a year for the first 2 seasons. Hard to top that one, I'll bet.

(edit) Bewitched also produced 36 new episodes in each of its first 2 seasons, plus added 2 clip show specials in season 2.

(edit) Petticoat Junction produced 38 episodes in its first season.

(edit) The Donna Reed Show produced 37 eps in S1, 38 each in S2 & 3, and 39 in S4

(edit) Depending on your definition of comedy, Batman produced 60 new episodes in its second season.

I was going to mention Batman but the show is hard to define and it was on twice a week.

I believe the 1st season of "Leave It To Beaver" (1957-58) produced 39 episodes. This seems to be the norm for shows of that era.

Looks like you found the winner. They produced 39 episodes of LITB every year of its six-year run.

That's 54 more episodes than the entire Seinfeld 9-year run.

In 1966-1967 Batman aired two episodes a week for 30 consecutive weeks, a total of 60 episodes in it's second season. You can debate whether or not it's a sitcom, but regardless, that's a lot of episodes.

That's the most amazing stat in this thread, wow.

How about more recent? Say within the last 20 years?

The Office: Season 4 - 30 eps.
George Lopez: Season 3 - 28 eps.

If you'd consider that a sitcom, the show actually broke down like this:

S1 - 130
S2 - 177

307 total.
