It has never had an official R1 release.

I have to also say The Wire. That show is just beyond brilliant. I also really like the dialogue in Rescue Me.

Why's everyone jack off to The Wire here? Most other sites consider it just an average show, nothing outstanding. On TV.com most episodes don't rate much higher than a 9 -- and bear in mind this is a site where any decent episode rates 9.5 or so.

The wire for me too. The show is almost perfect. And it's the only show where I actually feel like the people writing it are smarter then myself. Cough * lost * cough.

I'll mention something noone else has, though it's no longer being aired.

Current shows:
Brothers and Sisters
The Shield
Lost
Friday Night Lights (excellent job at writing fresh characters I can care about)
Studio 60 (I work in the TV business and this show is pretty dead on for alot of the behind the scenes material that goes on)

Because they like it? Tv.com has a large community, and many members I disagree with, hell Heroes is one of the highest rated shows on there, and that goes to show quality doesn't mean shit in those parts.

Yes I would say that the Wire has probably been the best writen Drama, in terms of depth, complexity, integrity, character developement and realism, that I have ever seen.

I would also like to add that Rome's writting was excellent as well, and Battlestar Galactica, aside from a few episodes here and there, has also been top notch.
