Yikes. The three biggest drops we're the three shows I watch.

damn. Heroes is getting closer and closer to dipping below 10 million.

mrpayroll 10-09-07 01:34 PM

No surprise that Journeyman lost so many viewers, with its leadin (Heroes) having the fewest amount of viewers (10.75m) ever for a first run episode.

Reading the Heroes thread and the majority of negative comments that have been made, Heroes is in big trouble this year. Sure it's # 1 in Shows by 18-49 Demo, but that doesn't mean squat if your losing more and more viewers every week.

Maybe their #'s will look better when the Tivo #'s are added in next week.

The problem with Heroes which is probably turning off alot of viewers is there is way too many characters. The only story that was really kept me entertained is Hiro's exploits in ancient Japan.

Maybe that's why Heroes is going through a Sophomore slump?

Not to take this thread too much off course, but the majority of the storylines have not been interesting or exciting this year. It's almost a chore to watch these first 3 episodes and the #'s are showing that the viewing public agrees.

it also turns people off that you need to read the comics to know whats happening in the show

Is that why I've been feeling lost? Sound I read the online comics?

I'm actually dissapointed that CHUCK is doing so badly in the ratings, it a fun show. But I'm glad to see "How I met Your Mother" with marginal success, especially after the cancellation scare last june.

A 3.0/8 in that demo isn't bad, but it's not going to save the show if it keeps coming in third every week. At the very least, it should be able to beat The Bachelor, a show that can't take advantage of DWTS's lead-in.

Patman 10-09-07 02:36 PM

What ratings did Studio 60's first 3 episode get in the same time frame as Journeyman's first 3 episodes?

Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. 10-09-07 02:47 PM

Studio 60's first three episodes:

9/18 - 13.39m, 10.3/16
9/25 - 11.21m, 8.8/14
10/2 - 9.05m, 7.2/11

DRG 10-09-07 02:55 PM

Really sad to see the ratings so low for Chuck and Journeyman.

And Life is Wild's debut was just horrible on Sunday. They are trying to reclaim that block as 'family hour' or something, but when its lead-in is a pair of cheesy reality/news shows that look like E! rejects, and its lead-out is repeating the sometimes salacious Top Model, you're going to have a hard time selling the idea. They should just stick to showing reruns on Sundays... I would love if they reaired Supernatural or Smallville there because I'm forced to skip both due to conflicts.

Patman 10-09-07 03:26 PM

Looks like NBC has a 10 p.m. dead zone on Monday, then.

Maybe they should put a show called 'Dead Zone' on at that time! ;)

They’ve finally realized that Monday nights for Primetime= Mostly mediocre programming.

I mean, nothing on Mondays is really “Must See” TV or anything & the when The Big Bang Theory & How I Met Your Mother are the only TV Shows with any actually ‘Quality Writing’; you’re left with a lot of horribly acted/poorly written shows.

Plus, when Dancing with the Stars & CSI: Miami are the two most popular shows overall of the night, that’s sad. It really, really is.

mrpayroll 10-10-07 10:56 AM

Well, some of the 'Heroes' watchers may beg to differ.

But after the first 3 episodes of this season, maybe you're right! ;)

Don’t worry; I’ve been fighting those people since season 1.

“Save the cheerleader, save the world”, more like save me from mediocre programming.

Other than Top Model and wrestling, Reaper's ratings aren't any worse than most CW shows, and are far better than a few shows.

Uh oh. Cane keeps losing viewers and has been under 10 million for two weeks. That's not good.

mrpayroll 10-10-07 12:50 PM

Thanx TheMovieman for posting the week ending figures. Where do you get these figures from?

I usually get mine from LATimes.com, but they haven't been posting them online now for the last 3 weeks and I keep a spreadsheet of weekly ratings (in millions) and right now I'm have to manually input the figures from their print edition.

Is there a free site where you get the viewership in millions for all shows?

Thanx Chris

Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. 10-10-07 12:52 PM

Smith was cancelled last season in the Tuesday at 10 timeslot after 3 episodes with not very much different numbers than Cane. It could be in trouble, although it didnt drop many viewers between this episode and last.

Cane
11.12m
9.24m
9.10m

Smith
10.71m
9.57m
8.43m

DJariya 10-10-07 12:58 PM

I'm not sure what the production costs of Cane are, but part of the reason Smith was canned was it costed over $3M an episode to produce. The pilot alone costed over $10M. I think that's what led to Smith's downfall in addition to the under 10M viewers in the ratings.

Cane is shot entirely in Los Angeles and I doubt the production costs even come close to Smith.
