Yeah, seriously. Kinda pissed.

Most of the serial dramas aren't available in advance, like the Shield, so maybe different rules apply.

Just because you have a crap memory, I don't want to run the risk of somebody quoting your recap or responding to it outside of a spoiler. Seriously, do you think it makes sense to post a recap of a future episode in this week's thread? What possible benefit, short of bragging rights, would that provide? What harm would there be in creating a new thread, for that episode?!?

It has nothing to do with bragging. People post future spoilers all the time in previous week's threads.

This is the appropriate thread, and it was appropriately spoiler-tagged. At this point in our disagreement, you can feel free to take it up with the mods if you have a problem with it.

Doc MacGyver 06-01-07 03:55 PM

As long as Spoiler rules are maintained, that's not that big a deal. Commenting on someone's speculation, though, - however round about - when you've SEEN the episode is pretty dickish.

This is clearly not the appropriate thread as your entire post was a recap of a completely different episode than the one in which you posted. I'm amazed at your insistance that you did right. I don't need moderator approval to validate that I'm right. Do you really need them to admit that you are wrong?

It does not surprise me given your level of arrogance that you are "amazed" that I am right. As I said, it's in the proper place, and it's properly tagged. If you want a further response regarding this, take it up with the mods, because you won't be hearing any further comment from me.

Doc MacGyver 06-01-07 04:17 PM

As long as it's spoilerized properly, what's the big deal? It may be a little odd, but not illegal. "Close, but no cigar" is bullshit.

Spoiler:
Putting whatever the fuck his little heart desires in here, though
is fine.

Thanks Doc. I appreciate it. Believe me, as a fan of several shows highly susceptible to spoilers (LOST, Heroes, 24) I am cognizant of the issue.

In addition to what has been said, isn't the rule that future episode threads can only be started the day of the episode?

Dukemstr 06-01-07 05:57 PM

back on topic.

I don't understand what the point of the whole gay killing invistagtion plot? it didn't go anywere and isn't related to anything, is it just a filler ?

Just speculating, but I think this case and the interrogation might serve to foreshadow Dutch's future actions in regards to Tina.

Speaking of mods, let's keep the personal attacks out of this. They're against the forum rules.

Hey guys, I goofed. I went back and put my post in spoiler tags. As I said in my edited post, I know I can't unring the bell, but I really didn't mean to post my response without spoiler tags. I made my post while I was at work and didn't pay attention to what I typed up. Once again, I sincerely apologize for my indiscretion.

And, umm, yeah... Tina has a nice ass.

I just caught the episode tonight. I love this show, but I have to admit, all previous five seasons sort of mend together for me so I can't quite remember what happened when and such.

I know the Aceveda incident happened in season three, BUT, didn't Aceveda break into the guy's house who raped him, and eventually, somehow, convince/bribe the guy to destroy the photo and any other copies? Obviously you can never know how many photos are out there, but still. I thought that storyline ended with the writer/producers pretty much letting the audience know that there wasn't any loose photos of that incident flying around.

Am I wrong on this, though?

Ah, thankfully I typed up an explanation for this whole thing earlier in this thread for someone who hadn't seen Season 3 yet.

Still going to keep it in spoiler tags, in case he still views the thread, but the following spoiler is just for season 3

Spoiler:
There were two guys that attacked Acaveda: Juan and his buddy. Juan is the one who actually raped him, and had his friend take a picture with his camera phone. A few episodes later, Acaveda ended up following the two around for revenge, and caught them holding up a convenience store. While stopping the robbery, he shot and killed Juan's friend, and stole his camera phone, while Juan got away. Eventually he caught up with Juan, but had to arrest him and bring him to The Barn (Vic found them before Acaveda could do anything). While Acaveda was interrogating Juan, Juan claimed that the picture was downloaded off of the camera, but Acaveda didn't believe him, claiming that Juan and his friend were too stupid to know how to do that. He then threatened to destroy Juan's entire life (have him attacked in prison, get his mother deported back to Mexico, etc) if he said anything about the rape.

The big change is that we were always lead to believe that the pictures were never downloaded, especially because Juan's girlfriend eventually tried to get Acaveda admitting what happened on tape (implying that there were no remaining copies of the picture), but as it turns out, it looks like Juan's buddy did manage to download it before the camera phone was taken.

PacMan2006 06-02-07 09:39 AM

OK, thanks. That's what I was trying to remember. So I didn't miss anything, per se. We're just under the same impression as Aceveda is. That the picture was thought to be destroyed, but apparently that just isn't the case.

This aspect of the show has annoyed me since season 1. I understand that they wanted something to provoke Dutch's reflection on loss, but whenever they do this they always give some lame case that is drug out but always solved with the original perpetrator being the culprit. It's a minor thing, but it'd be nice if they mixed up the backup investigations once in a while.

Good episode, though. Love where they are going with things this year.

In addition (spoilers for season 5)

Spoiler:
When Juan's girlfriend tried to blackmail Aceveda to get Juan out of prison, Aceveda went to Antwon Mitchell, who happened to be in the same prison, and got him to kill Juan. I hope that will become a factor - hopefully involving the return of Antwon Mitchell, but at least the revelation that Aceveda had someone murdered in prison.

Btw, does anyone know if <i>Rescue Me</i> is returning? I keep hoping FX will show a promo for it or something, but it's like they've completely forgotten about it.

Uh, there have been a ton of different commercials for it, actually.

You must watch The Shield on a commercial skipping DVR then. ;) I've seen no less than 5-6 promos in the last few weeks of the Shield.

MovieExchange 06-04-07 10:56 AM

Mmmmm, lots of people miss the subtle sarcasm...

I swear, FX is almost as bad as USA. At least FX has different commercials for the same show, although seeing a show advertised every commercial break is still damned annoying.
