The references to Jack's dad and nobody seeming to know he is dead presents a big question mark, you have to admit.

There's a lot of candidates that could have been in that casket. Whoever it was, no one cared enough to see them. I'd like to rule out Hurley though, the casket was too small.

Well, the Jack beard scenes were the show, and the flashbacks were the island.

I kind of thought it was the future with the "flashbacks", you could see hints of grey in his beard. It was very subtle.

I don't know why Jack acted like he wasn't when he was confronting the doctor, but the doctor definitely knew that Jack's dad was dead. You could tell by the look on his face when Jack was demanding he go talk to him.

Actually, I thought he clearly looked older in the very first scene. After that, it looked more subtle.

Not everyone got off the island. Juliet is still there. That's why nobody was around for the funeral. That's why Jack considered the person in the casket neither a friend or family member.

Regarding Charlie, he knew he had to die in order to save Claire, thats why he locked himself in the room. I'm sad he's dead though.
