What a fantastic episode! That was pretty much the most amazing television ending I've seen - ever.

Wow.

For some reason I am thinking that the Ben and the Others know something about the end of most of the world or something or a plague of some kind and that is why they do not want to leave the island...
Maybe somehow Jack and Kate know this in some way too as well as the others who possibly got off the island and that is why they have a desire to return to the island...
I dont know it this could add up to anything and I missed a lot of episodes this season so I dont even know if this theory is possible but it is what this episode left me feeling..

Well, I don't think that's the only reason.

These producers/writers dont do anything that is obvious. Isnt Ben being in the casket the obvious. I'm in the camp of we havent met the character in the casket yet....or its jacob.

But it wasn't clear enough to be sure. Would go with the clone theory.
There is one frame that is really clear on the HD broadcast. It does not say Jack Shepherd. It says, "Los Angeles" in bold title. Underneath that it says, "Man found d[ead?] downtown" as a subtitle (the "ead" is not visible, but that must be what it is). On my 65" TV, I can't make out much of the actual text of the article other than "The body of." You might be able to make out more with a zoomed screencap of this frame. It occurs at about 1h1m into the episode and is several frames from when you can first sort of read the article.

Perhaps Jack and Kate were the only ones to get off the island?

(and whoever was in the casket)

It has to be BEN, because Kate says "Why would I go to THAT funeral?!?!?!"

Did she really hate Rose or Michael?

My tivo only recorded 1/2 hour!! Can you frickin believe that? I think I had to much saved to the hard drive! Anyway, that leaves a very confusing ending for me!
Does anyone know how soon they put the most current episode online????

After getting closer to the TV, I could read more. It says "The body of J[e or o] . . . [?]antham of [New? N??] was . . . [shor]tly after 4 a.m. in the . . . of Grand Avenue."

The subtitle says "downtown loft" and loft appears in the text also.

Amazing. The second half of this season was just incredible. One thing I especially like is how throwaway things that annoyed me came back later in the season, i.e that stupid bus. Seemed like the casket was pretty small, that of a child, otherwise my money would be on Locke.

It definitely begins with "Jo" or "Je", not "Ja." Also it is "antham" (Trantham?). Definitely says "of New York." Can see that word more clearly in a later frame. Also says something about "a beam in the" something.

You're absolutely right. Most of today's TV series film every episode of every season they're on all in one day.
