Meh. They failed to keep things interesting, but I'll stick around until the voting rounds to see if it gets better.
Also, I like Chelsea Handler, but sheesh -- could they get a more inappropriate host?

It felt like they cast these directors as characters on an idiotic reality show. With the popcorn approach they've taken (Brett Ratner
), I certainly hope we hear "This is My Now" on the soundtrack.

I'm sticking around to see how it all plays out, because I'm hoping there is a season 2 and I can get a second chance.

Maybe meeting Spielberg is being saved for the big finale...

I had read (on Aint it Cool) that the 50 directors chosen out of the 12000 entries all had some kind of major funded project under their belt. Anyone know if this is true? If it is, then the show certainly isn't as "real" as it is intending us to believe.

Regardless, you think Steven would have at least shown up in a pre-recorded clip.

I meant to catch this last night... will look elsewhere for a repeat.
Our entertainment reporter here at Headline News, Adrianna Costa, abruptly quit a couple of days ago. I was told this morning that she is going to be the new host of this show. Honestly, I don't know how true that is. She's a beautiful girl, no doubt.

The pitching process was interesting. I doubt they cared much about the plots as much as the pitching itself.
I liked the shoot a short in 24 hours. I didn't like forcing them to team up.. especially since it looked like they were given a crew.
And the winner gets an office at DreamWorks? As what? A glorified Exec. Assistant?

I think it will get much better. I really wish they would have actually shown us some of the winning films. It would have made this first episode a lot better than just watching embarrassing footage of bad pitches. We don't have anyone to root for because we haven't seen anything they've done. Personality isn't important when they're trying to find the best filmmaker. I really wish they would have focused on that instead.
I know everyone here dogs on Ratner, but if anyone was in the same situation as these guys they would be smart to suck up to him. He's clearly a very popular person in Hollywood and knows how to pitch (based on the types of projects he's able to get). I know I would be groveling at his feet if given the chance to be there. He knows his shit.

I was actually entertained by the premiere. I think the show has alot of potential to grow as the weeks progress.
My only problems were:
1. The Host (who the heck is she?)
2. The editing (they crammed in alot in 1 hour and I felt like I was missing alot from the pitches and getting to know more of the contestants)

Lol, hope you didn't get too attached to it...buh-bye...
"The premiere of the filmmaking competition "On the Lot" posted a 5.4/8 for FOX, squandering well over half its lead-in and also falling significantly in its second half-hour"

Yeah it was up against the Dancing finale, but it even lost to a CBS movie of the week and that was with American Idol as a lead in...

I actally ended up enjoying it apart from the crapy host, who was thankfully absent the rest of the hour.
I thought the pitch challenge was interesting; I liked that they all had the same lame story ideas to work with. It was cool to see what they were able to do with them.

What's weird is that many of the previews for it were in HD (but it could have been stretch-o-vision).
It looks like this show is going to be "America's Next Top Filmmaker Who Can Make a $250M Popcorn Flick".

I have to admit - I was pretty disappointed. I DVR'ed it and watched it late last night. I really liked Project Greenlight and was sort of expecting something more along those lines.
First of all, I can't believe they started with 50 people. That was ridiculous. They should have had 10 or 12, shown us their movies, and let us get to know them.
The pitch lines were stupid - and the task was stupid. I mean, do directors normally do the pitch?
Now - they have 24 hours to script and film a short film with people they hardly know.
Ugh.
And I do think it was funny that the one curly haired bitch made the blonde woman tell her what her idea was - but then refused to tell her own "awesomely developed and creative idea." I hate people like that.

Mark Burnett was on KROQ yesterday and stated that Steven Spielberg will be handing the winner the key to their office. That is supposed to be his only appearance.

I thought the show was ok. The first episode wasn't the best but I have to believe it will get better as it goes along. Plus Amazing Race sucked the first season and they learned from their mistakes to make a great show.
