They should just leave it with the numbers and fate as the reasons the plane crashed.

Lots of pre-finale filler in this one, although it's the first time in quite a while where they did something even remotely interesting with Charlie.

uh, me...I thought Charlie was played with a quiet understatement that really hit home with me. It killed me with his 5 top life moments. Great episode, looking forward to the finale. Wonder who will be sacrificed. This season was so much better than the previous. Really want to settle with "the others" and go back to the mysteries of the Island.

On a related note. Looking at that picture, am I the only one who thinks the background of the door looks fake? Like a painting? Not like bad FX but like it's supposed to be that way for the scene.

Just watched this episode or the 2nd time and have 2 ques's (sorry if theyve already been asked)....
-instead of Charlie swimming down to the hatch and flipping the switch, why couldnt they just cut the power line?
-instead of Charlie slapping Desmond in the face with a huge wooden oar and knocking him out, why couldnt Charlie just say "Thanks for offering, Desmond, but I want to flip the switch."????

well fine, be that way
Really I don't see #2 holding much water either way, it'll be forgotten about as soon as Desmond wakes up.
#1, they really didn't know what it was anyhow, but unless they mention it nobody will ever really know why they didn't go that route, seemed logical that they wouldn't sever it. They ever follow it all the way inland?

I suspect the cable isn't even a power cable at all: it just physically connects the Looking Glass Station to the mainland. All cutting it would achieve is making it harder to find the station.

2) That part kind of reminded me of Armageddon, only tons better of course. You know, how both people want to sacrifice themselves for the cause, and so one stops the other from giving his life. Desmond seems like the type that once he gets an idea in his head, there's not much hope in stopping him. Also, I think in a way, it was Charlie's way of finalizing his decision. Once he incapacitated Desmond, that's it...there's nobody else who can pull the switch except for Charlie. It kinda takes away the temptation of backing out and handing the duty off to somebody else.
