Chris Crap. It seems like this new season is filled with shows that sound like something we've seen already (Quantum Leap, Jake 2.0, Angel) or remakes (Bionic Woman). Hollywood really has run out of ideas. |
Viva Laughlin sounded pretty good until I read the part about musical interludes and it too made me think immediately of Cop Rock.

Mother, Survivor and Race MidSeason.
Shark will be a bitch to watch for the first half of the season football will screw it up royally... Tally: NBC:5.5 Office, FNL, Bionic Woman (new), 30Rock, Earl, Quantum Leap :), Life (new) Fox: 3hrs: House, Idol, 24 WB: 0 hrs: nothing ABC: 7hrs: Cavemen (new), Carpool Betty (new), Boston Legal, Lost, Dancing, Dirty Sexy Money (new), bros & sisters CBS: 3.5 hrs: Mother, Survivor, Race, Shark (maybe) Fx: 4hrs: Shield, Riches, Dirt, Rescue Me Bravo: 2hrs: Top Chef, Proj Runway TNT: 1 hr: The Closer |
I'm a little ticked about Jericho. Now the only show I watch on CBS is NCIS. That's not the type of show I usually watch, but I like it. I haven't seen a single new show for next fall that looks like something I'll want to watch. There were only a few this season I wanted to check out. Seems fewer every year since I really got into TV a few years ago(happened to coincide with getting a DVR).
I love serialized shows. Most of the shows I really like look to probably end next year or the year after. Battlestar, Lost, the Shield, 24(although it better start good next year), stuff like that. And doesn't look like there will be anything to replace them for me. |
Am I the only one who thinks Cane sounds like a rip-off of NBC's old show, Kingpin?

Still no Battle Royale reality show eh?
|
Without a Trace and Shark switching timeslots doesn't really affect me. I think CBS now wants to see if Shark can stand by itself without CSI as a lead in.
After looking at that schedule, I'm disappointed that Jericho was replaced with a cheap reality show about kids.....Damn! The Tuesday at 10pm timeslot has been a problem for CBS. I don't know if that Jimmy Smits show will do any better than 3LBS or Smith. This is what I'm watching on CBS: Monday: CSI:Miami (Unchanged) Tuesday: NCIS and The Unit and maybe try the pilot for Cane Wednesday: Criminal Minds and CSI:NY Thursday: Survivor, CSI and WAT (Unchanged) Friday: Ghost Whisperer and maybe the pilot of Moonlight Sunday: Cold Case and Shark |
Jericho was the only CBS show I watched. Looks like they've lost me as a viewer!

So Jericho got replaced by a take on Lord of the Flies in New Mexico? Sheesh!
What I'll be recording: MONDAY 8:00-8:30 PM HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER 8:30-9:00 PM THE BIG BANG THEORY (N) (go low expectaction for this show) 9:00-9:30 PM TWO AND A HALF MEN 9:30-10:00 PM RULES OF ENGAGEMENT 10:00-11:00 PM CSI: MIAMI TUESDAY 8:00-9:00 PM NCIS 9:00-10:00 PM THE UNIT WEDNESDAY 8:00-9:00 PM KID NATION (N) (will check it out, but not optimistic) 9:00-10:00 PM CRIMINAL MINDS THURSDAY 8:00-9:00 PM SURVIVOR 9:00-10:00 PM CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION 10:00-11:00 PM WITHOUT A TRACE (NT) (on the chopping block) FRIDAY 8:00-9:00 PM GHOST WHISPERER 9:00-10:00 PM MOONLIGHT (N) (will check it out, but probably won't like it) 10:00-11:00 PM NUMB3RS SUNDAY 9:00-10:00 PM COLD CASE (on the chopping block) 10:00-11:00 PM SHARK (NT) (also on the chopping block, though, for me) |
I'll probably start watching HIMYM, and I watch Shark and Without a Trace from time to time.
The rest of CBS's lineup is pretty bleh, CSI: Miami and Two and a Half Men being two of the worst shows currently airing (imo, of course). |
I've never watched CSI: Miami on CBS. I've caught a bunch of episodes on A & E though. Can I jump into this show for the new season, or will a be lost as hell?
|
Every episode of CSI:Miami is self contained as with most procedural dramas. Occasionally there are a few episodes that have continuations. So, you could join in next season with little problems.
If William Petersen leaves CSI after next season as I heard he plans to do, I think that show is in serious trouble. |

Cancelling Jericho and replacing it with Kid Nation is one of the more baffling moves I have ever seen CBS make. It seems like a really crappy lead-in to your strongest shows of the night "Criminal Minds" and "CSI:NY"
Personally I would have rather seen them pick up that LL Cool J pilot "The Man" or that Dean Cain pilot "Protect and Serve" if they absolutely insisted on replacing Jericho. The move makes little sense to me. |

Oh, and cancelling Jerico is one of the dumbest moves CBS has made; ubt like others, I still fall for the serialized shows HOPING that THIS one will be the one they renew. |

-Jason RIP Jericho :( |
This may be the first time in my life that I don't watch any shows on the Big 3 networks. Maybe I'll try one of the new ones this fall.

Frankly, the reality show is probably far far cheaper for them and it won't be hard to get near the rating Jericho got in a timeslot with lame competition. Not that hard to understand. That being said, the premise sounds stupid.

Monday
8:00-8:30 Pm How I Met Your Mother 8:30-9:00 Pm The Big Bang Theory (n) 9:30-10:00 Pm Rules Of Engagement 10:00-11:00 Pm Csi: Miami Wednesday 8:00-9:00 Pm Kid Nation (n) 9:00-10:00 Pm Criminal Minds Thursday 8:00-9:00 Pm Survivor Friday 9:00-10:00 Pm Moonlight (n) Sunday 10:00-11:00 Pm Shark (nt) |
With CBS axing The Class & Jericho, it looks like I'm down to HIMYM, CSI, Numbers, and likely NCIS. I may give the Angel remake a shot, though it's probably going to last, at most, as long as Threshold did on Fridays.
|
I'm at:
NBC - 8 ABC - 3  CBS - 7.5 (more when TAR comes back) CW - 2.5 |
Moonlight is a more of a remake of Forever Knight.
|
Okay I went to CBS.com and watched the previews of some of these new shows:
Kid Nation: Awful looking. The dialogue from the kids looks blantantly scripted. I assume this is CBS' response to the crackdown on violence on TV. Honestly, considering how stupid this show looks it may actually be a parents favorite. Cane: Looks like a high production value show with a pretty good cast. I will give this a try. Moonlight: I will give this a try as well. A Vampire detective show sounds intriguing. Plus, I'm intrigued if Alex O'Loughlin (Kevin Hyatt from The Shield) can carry a show. |

The Class was awful along with How I met your mother, 2 unfunny comedies. I wish the KOQ's could have a 10th season & it could be Christine, 2 Half men, king of Queens & rules of engagement. I'm not surprised as it has been talked about for months now but cancelling (don't like the show) Close to home is stupid considering it does better than Ghost Whisperer and its getting renewed. I can't wait for the DVD release of Jericho & it was one of the few LOST craze ripoff shows that actually lasted a whole season. Yep, I sure am saying exactly that, but to each their own. Myself, I prefer cleverly written and actually funny sitcoms - instead of the lowest common denominator shows, like the ones I mentioned, that seem to appeal to the average John Q Public, and I find generally to be complete crap. In fact, most of the major long running sitcoms of the last 10 years have left me cold. But hey, if you like that stuff, that's your bag and you're welcome to it. You just couldn't even pay me to watch them. We can, however, at least find some common ground with Jericho. The canceling of that show was a complete shocker. Would have thought if any new show debuting from CBS last year would have made it, that would be the one. |
