Wow... if networks are going to cancel serialized shows that are even doing well, there's absolutely no incentive to start watching them. That's nuts.

(I'm not fan of Jericho... I bailed after 4 episodes. But having followed it in the ratings threads, I wouldn't have even considered that it would get the ax.)

Qrusher14242 05-15-07 06:08 PM

this sucks :( Just when Jericho starts getting good, they cancel it. Screw you CBS :(

Spicollidriver1 05-15-07 06:08 PM

Officially pissed dump Jericho which was good (it is ok for a show to take it slow sometimes), teeter back and forth on HIMYM which is great, the class which started boring but turned out to be good, yet you keep garbage like christine.

Close to Home was a much better series in its first season. Then they had to "re-tool" it for season 2, killed off Annabeth's husband, added that smarmy DA and it just wasn't the same show. I initially started watching because I liked the premise of a new mother trying to balance her career, but they ended up shelving that to where she barely even mentioned her daughter. Plus the cases were really dull. There was never any surprises, the person in the beginning was guilty from the get-go and they just had to prove the case.

I now don't watch any shows on CBS after they cancelled The Class and Jericho

Doing well? The show was constantly in the 7 or 8 million viewer mark, that's not great for any network not called the CW, and horrible for CBS (who has a thing about dipping below 10m).

You have to also add in that it had a lot of buzz before the first episode because of the topic and had a really interesting idea, just poorly executed before the break, and when they finally figured it out, it was too late.

Seantn 05-15-07 06:47 PM

For The CW that's actually remarkable/amazing ratings.

Yep, particularly for a Wednesday night show. It finished 2nd in it's timeslot but the competition in that slot is woefully pathetic.

Great news about How I Met Your Mother.

Spicollidriver1 05-15-07 07:02 PM

What bothers me about some of these really poor decisions is whatever they replace it will probably not do any better(studio 60 went through two shows).

chrisih8u 05-15-07 07:26 PM

I gave up on the Unit halfway through season 1. Has it gotten better?

If your issue was with the wives, yes. If your issue was with something else, probably not.

IDrinkMolson 05-15-07 07:34 PM

The sad news is, after the hiatus, Jericho was really good. The first half was fairly weak.

DeanoBKN 05-15-07 07:54 PM

Without spoilers, does Jericho come to some sort of closure at the end of season 1? Like Kidnapped, I would like to check this out on DVD.

treszoks 05-15-07 08:02 PM

There's no closure in the Jericho finale. Kinda sucks that they cancelled it but oh well. The only thing left on CBS for me is Survivor.

IMO, the season finale leaves much to the imagination (like the end of Angel).

schmedy 05-15-07 08:11 PM

Just emailed CBS at the feedback link at the bottom of CBS.com, as well as hit a few petitions. Kill off this "reality" and "gameshow" crap and give a real show a chance.

I don't really buy it. Angel's ending was planned. This ending was obviously a cliff hanger. With the investment I've put in this show I feel cheated that it was finally becoming a good show and we get no conclusion.

Actually, CBS did. The first half of the season had soapy story lines because CBS demanded it. When it was not working the producers were able to go and do what they wanted and thus the show improved.

If that's really the case, this cancellation shouldn't be much of a shock. I'm guessing it came down to The Unit and Jericho, and the suits just believed in The Unit (with its possible and possibly network-directed change in concept) more than they did the show that didn't work the way they expected it to.

If we were in a different climate, I could almost see a move to NBC/Scifi. As it is, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were a viewer of the show. Sorry, guys.

Doughboy 05-15-07 08:39 PM

I was expecting The Class to get canned, but it still sucks.

Now I can go back to watching nothing on CBS's worthless, overrated lineup.
