CW News
Looks like this hasn't hit Futoncritic yet, but Supernatural, Smallville and One Tree Hill are all getting renewals. They've picked up the pilots Aliens in America, Gossip Girl, Reaper, and Wild at Heart (fka Unt. South Africa). Veronica Mars is cancelled. Their official schedule will be announced on Thursday.

Rumor is new timeslots for OTH and Supernatural.

I just saw this:
http://memles.wordpress.com/2007/05/...-shows-update/ Well, it looks like there’s some new word from The Hollywood Reporter about some bubble shows. - Confirming earlier reports, The CW is renewing Smallville, Supernatural and One Tree Hill for next year to go along with their pilot pickups (Gossip Girl, Reaper, and Wild at Heart are now joined by comedy Aliens in America). However, most interesting is that this basically fills the CW schedule…and yet there is still the fate of Veronica Mars to be decided. At this point, I don’t think the show has a chance. Chances are that the network will fill its programming gaps with reality television as opposed to ordering up Veronica’s FBI spinoff. The fate of the show looks bleaker than ever, although there’s always still a chance it could make it by the skin of its teeth. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://memles.wordpress.com/2007/05/...he-cw-preview/ Projected Schedule Mondays 8pm - Supernatural 9pm - Reaper Tuesdays 8pm – One Tree Hill [Officially Renewed for next season. For Realz!] 9pm – Veronica Mars: FBI Wednesdays 8pm – America’s Next Top Model/Search for the Next Pussycat Doll 9pm – Gossip Girl Thursdays 8pm - Smallville 9pm – Drama Pickup or Two Comedy Pickups Fridays 8pm – Friday Night Smackdown! Sundays 8pm – Everybody Loves Chris 8:30pm – All of Us 9pm - Girlfriends 9:30pm – The Game We’ll see how this compares to what The CW announces on Thursday, May 17th, when they reveal their full Fall Schedule. |
yay for supernatural.

CW picks up dramas
No word yet on 'Veronica Mars' By JOSEF ADALIAN The CW has officially greenlit three dramas and two unscripted magazine shows -- but there's still no final word on the fate of "Veronica Mars." Definitely gone: "All of Us," the Will Smith-produced laffer that ran for three seasons on UPN and the CW. Returning shows snagging official pickups: Laffers "Girlfriends" and "The Game" and dramas "Smallville," "Supernatural" and "One Tree Hill." CW picked up "Everybody Hates Chris" for a third season earlier this spring. As expected, CW execs Tuesday called the producers of "Gossip Girl," "Reaper" and a remake of Blighty family drama "Wild at Heart" to give them the good news. Things are still looking promising for comedy "Aliens in America," though as of early Tuesday afternoon , there was no official order yet. CW is moving forward with a pair of magazine style shows, both of which will likely air Sunday nights in the 7 p.m. timeslot. "Online Nation" is a sort of "America's Funniest Home Videos" for the YouTube generation, while "CW Now" is the net's "ET"-style look at pop culture. On the scripted side, greenlight for "Gossip Girl" gives exec producer Josh Schwartz his second series order this season. It's a quick comeback for Schwartz, whose last hit -- Fox's "The OC" -- left the air in February. |
Supernatural...sweet.

With Supernatural renewed, all of my "bubble" shows have been renewed. Hooray!
The appearance of Search for the Next Pussycat Doll on the schedule is puzzling. The group already has seven members, though one member seems to be doing most of the singing. How can they keep this show going? |
Good to see that OTH is officially back. Hopefully, they go through with the 5-year-jump plan.
|
Woo Supernatural!
|
Glad to see Supernatural will be back. :D
|
Hooray OTH, my #1 guilty pleasure in life.
|
Supernatural!!!!!
|
F in the A, I hope they don't dump Veronica Mars. I doubt they'll be able to replace it with something that will do any better.
|
<--- Very happy Supernatural is renewed.
<--- Very concerned it's losing its pairing with Smallville. |

Very happy about Supernatural and its timeslot change from the Thursday Night "Sacrificial Lamb" Hour. However, I think Sundays at 9pm - the old X-Files timeslot - would be a better pick for it than Mondays at 8pm.

At least they didn't put Supernatural up against Heroes. Yay for Supernatural and Smallville!!
|
Yeah for Supernatural, but I am scared it will cut back on the scares and violence due to the earlier timeslot.
|
WHAT?! 7th Heaven isn't returning?! ;)
I still watch One Tree Hill, but I gotta be honest. This season's been so dull(the nearly 3 month hiatus in midseason didn't help) that I almost don't care it's returning. Please hire new writers and remind them that the show used to be fun. |
I'm sad about VM, but honestly I care much more for OTH, so I'm celebrating... All three drama pilots seem interesting!
|
Wow a network that didn't let me down this year, though I still harbor a grudge for Everwood's cancellation.

Seeing Supernatural on that schedule makes my day. All of my friends could suddenly die in terrible accidents, yet I'd still be happy about Supernatural coming back. Moreover, now I'll have something to watch on Mondays while I'm waiting for 24.
|
Put VM after Smallville. It can't do any worse, that's for sure.
Poor Supernatural might not last on Monday. It survived Tuesday, so who knows. |
 to Supernatural, and :up: to it's new timeslot. I was watching four things in that Thursday slot.
 to Mars  |

A few things, since I wrote the article posted on the first page and it's a tiny bit out of date:
- I don't actually know anything, it's all speculation. So while One Tree Hill/Supernatural are officially returning, we know nothing for sure of their timeslots. Both will certainly be moving (Gossip Girl is a lock for the post-ANTM slot), but their locations are still unsure as of this time. - With a majority of word going against Veronica Mars, I've bumped it off the schedule...but there is hope. There is a rumour they'll give the show a month to write and perhaps shoot an FBI pilot, and then make a final decision. In the meantime, they could slot Beauty & the Geek into the Tuesday night spot with little trouble and renege in a month's time should Veronica come out well. |
Glad Supernatural is returning. I was sort of bummed about its new timeslot until I realized that I have never watched it live. So I guess it doesn't matter when it's on.

[05.16.07 - 05:56 AM] FATE OF 'JIM,' 'APPRENTICE,' 'MARS' TO COME AFTER UPFRONTS By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- "According to Jim," ABC's current longest running scripted series, may very well live on. Both the L.A. Times and The Hollywood Reporter have indicated talks are underway to bring back the veteran comedy despite its absence from the network's 2007-2008 lineup. Longtime readers may recall similar scenarios with CBS' "Yes, Dear" back in 2004 (read the original upfront release) and "Becker" in 2003 (read the original upfront release). Neither series was present on the Eye's schedule at that year's upfront only to later earn reprieves. Earlier this week, NBC confirmed the future of "The Apprentice" likewise wouldn't be decided until after the upfronts - June 1 to be exact. The date was mentioned in The New York Daily News' report yesterday about the news, which goes on to say executive producer Donald Trump and company will begin shopping the series elsewhere on said date. And finally as if there wasn't enough post-upfront drama to unfold in the coming weeks, TV Guide columnist Michael Ausiello indicated this morning the CW may wait until June 15 to reach a verdict on its cult drama "Veronica Mars." "The extra time would allow [creator] Rob Thomas to produce an actual script for ["Veronica Mars"] in the FBI," he said, referring to the show's potential revamp as an FBI-based pseudo-procedural. For now, "Mars" isn't expected to be on the netlet's 2007-2008 schedule, due to be announced tomorrow. |

CW announces fall schedule Network adds six new series By MICHAEL SCHNEIDERA year after launching with a safe schedule of mostly returning shows, the CW is hoping to make its mark this year by adding six new series to its lineup. Heading into the weblet's second season, CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff said she was looking for shows that would help brand the fledgling operation. "Our new shows have attitude and a sense of fun, and they're going to define this network," said Ostroff. As expected (Daily Variety, May 17), the net will take advantage of its two reality hits to premiere two new dramas that could become signature shows for the weblet: "Reaper" and "Gossip Girl." A third new drama, "Life is Wild," will slide into "7th Heaven's" former Sunday home, keeping the 8 p.m. hour family-friendly. Net will also keep Thursday and Friday intact. "With established shows anchoring four nights and providing a launch pad for new programs, we will also have stability on our successful Thursday and Friday lineups," Ostroff said. "Shows that can be enjoyed by the whole family will air on Mondays and Sundays in the 8:00-9:00 hour, with the 7:00-8:00 hour on Sunday providing an innovative showcase for both viewers and advertisers." |
