How many seasons does Survivor have left?

The next season of Survivor is already confirmed.

While Survivor isn't as buzz worthy as Season 1 or 2 nor the ratings as big, Survivor still gets bigger ratings than shows like: Lost, Heroes, Ugly Betty, and 24.

Even if Jeff Probst decides to quit, I'm sure they could get another host like Boston Rob. Anybody else feel like this show could go on for another 5+ seasons?

Judging by the ratings, there are still a lot of Survivor fans out there.

I finally pulled the plug this season, after several seasons where I barely paid attention while folding clothes or something.

It was tough to get through this season, but I'm glad I did because the last 4 episodes have been as good as Survivor has ever been.

I think it has quite a bit of life left to it.

Survivor is cheap to produce and continues to get over 10M viewers every season, so CBS will definitely keep it going as long as possible. I think Probst is signed on for the next 2 editions (Fall & Spring)

Please, don't even joke about something like that.

I stopped watching after the All Star Survivor, it was getting to be too much but I think it is going to be around for a while.

I think the answer is that Survivor is like Law & Order in that you'll know the end is near if or when they start moving it around the schedule. I know it didn't always reside where it's at now, but the Thursday slot is where it has had quite a run. When that changes, it will be time to start the death watch.

I hate reality shows, I really do but This & the Amazing Race are the only ones i watch & can stand.
Any show that can beat that god awful Ugly Betty show in the ratings deserves to stay on the air for as long as it wants too, It's just to bad My name is earl can't beat it in the ratings.

People are still watching Survivor. It was the fourth most watched show on Thursday last week and it handily won its time period. As long as folks are viewings, it is a good bet CBS will keep airing.

CBS might want to consider airing it only once a year, a la American Idol, to make the show seem more special. But the show remains fun to watch.

Yea an av. of 13 million people watch it a week and its 95% of the time the # 1 show in its respective timeslot so there is no way CBS is cancelling. I think if Survivor was only on once a year they should up the prize money to like $5 million or something and put them in the freezing cold!-Who wouldn't watch that?

I heard its ratings were slipping. I stopped watching after a few season...same challenges, same bickering. Watched for the whole race thing last season and promised I'd never watch it again. Haven't caught a single episode this season. Go Ugly Betty.

How many seasons? After they hit every island on the planet?

I think it can go 4 more years, which is 8 seasons (fall season; spring season)

Like everyone said, good ratings + low production costs mean the run continues.

There's only so much they can do with the settings and challenges. The key to each season is the characters, which is why this season got off to such a slow start.

just the fact that they are able to recycle so creatively and pull viewers is a testament to the production

i stopped watching two years ago, but the reviews i've read this year have been mostly very good

all stars rocked

No idea at what point the show isn't financially feasible to produce. I stopped watching regularly with the Survivor before All Stars, and haven't really watched most of the last two. With that said, I wonder if maybe having just one Survivor a year would help, instead of two.

Judging by how good the ratings are, I'm sure CBS thinks 2 is better than 1.

The chances of CBS getting a new show to even match Survivor's ratings are extremely slim. Heck most new pilots don't even last a season.

I thought it was interesting last night when they announced next season they are going to China.

I thought the little China teaser they had last night looked and sounded pretty interesting, so I am very excited for another season of Survivor. Only 4 months away!

The idea of putting them in the freezing cold mentioned earlier by nateman241 is a good one. Why haven't they tried that before? Would it be too dangerous to be viable? That said, the China setting should be interesting and different for next year.

They don't do the freezing cold because they want to show people in as little clothing as possible.

I usually like to watch it once per year, usually the 2nd one starting in January it makes it a better show. That being said, I'll probably watch both this year since China is the next locale and that seems interesting.

The producers do a pretty good job of tryng to mix things up within the game, so each season has a pretty good wrinkle. I'd say it has at at least two more years in it, but it could go 5 or more...
