The Unit, "Paradise Lost," Season Finale 5/8/07
I thought this episode was awesome, though I simply cannot believe Bob turned at the end like that. Just don't get that at all and don't like it either. Jonas on the run, the one guy in the wind, the rest in jail and Bob turning to the CIA and now having to hunt down Jonas?! Should set up for an excellent next season, so it'd BETTER be coming back...

I've really enjoyed this series and it just seems to keep getting better. With a storyline like last night's, ya gotta wonder how the Hell things will ever get back to normal, but I guess change is good. I hope this isn't one of those "we're just testing the unit to see how they react, all for national security, ya unnerstand" things.

Does anybody think that the format for this show is going to change? For a while now it's been pretty obvious to me that they're trying to make Bob into the main star. He was in every single episode and many times even Jonas played a supporting role. Even though I like both of them, Grey and Hector are more or less worthless characters. They hardly add anything to the show and therefore aren't even in half of them. Usually each show revolves around Mac, Jonas and Bob, but mostly Bob.
Do you think this is their way of eliminating Hector and Grey and pretty much totally focussing on Bob and Jonas? I guess I don't have any clue what's going to happen with Mac or the Colonel though. I suupose if Bob reallly sticks with the CIA and they go with the whole "hunt down Jonas" angle the Colonel wouldn't be needed anyway. Eventually, if they want to go down that road, Bob could eventually "catch" Jonas and Dennis Haysbert would leave the show and that would basically leave Bob with his own show, which, for a while now, I've thought would eventually happen.
I suppose a show about Bob Brown as a CIA agent working on missions would be pretty cool. I have a feeling he would turn into another Jack Bauer pretty quickly though. By that I mean that some catastrophe would happen and the only person in the world capable of saving the day would be Jack Bauer...I mean Bob Brown.

Good end for a show that was slowing down ... Of course, with the abrupt entry of the CIA you could predict somethig like this was coming. Very (pleasantly) surprised that they're pointing fingers at the intelligence establishment/military hierarchy. I just hope they do a good follow-thru when the series returns.

That's going to be one bitch of a cliffhanger if this show doesn't come back next year.
Bob's wife is to blame for him switching. She's my least favorite character.

Bob didn't turn, he's the unit's inside man in the CIA. not the other way around
he knows the only way to get to the bottom of what's going on is to play along, and "joining" the cia is the way to get that info

I'm sure the show will be back, but not sure if everyone will return. CBS should announce their decision on the show this month.
The bank clerk lady was cute, but it was hard to believe that some stranger would do a favor like that.
Tiffy/Mack face-off was good. Liked Ryan's talk with Charlotte. Sure he'll find a way to get her back on board.

After this finale, they'd better bring the team back. Good finale.

I'm not so sure the show will be back, but I'd personally love to see Bob and wife gone (mostly due to Bob's wife). Maybe that's how they'll resolve it if the show does come back.
I think it was a hell of a way to end the series if CBS does kill it. If they do, I'd love for Mamet and Ryan to try selling a stripped down Bob vs. Jonas spin-off to a cable net.

Yeah, Ricky Jay. Magician and card throwing specialist.

Ricky Jay is the author of Cards as Weapons and Learned Pigs & Fireproof Women, which was made into a TV special years ago. He had a special on HBO called Ricky Jay & his 52 assistants (52 being the number of cards in a deck), which was basically his stage show, and was in 2 excellent David Mamet movies about con men: House of Games & Spanish Prisoner.
I liked the episode but when Jonas & Bob broke into the Col. office it seemed a little too easy, even for them. Their are no cameras in the building(?) and the security guards seemed to be very lax considering what was going on.

Great episode. I hope this show comes back. At first I didn't care for it much but now its one of my favorites. Sad to see so many shows improve with quality as the season goes only to get canned leaving a cliffhanger.

I didn't really care for this episode as much as the rest of you did. I thought it seemed more like a second-to-last episode of a season, not the season finale. It seemed like it was mostly set-up.
I did not really understand the drama with the Colonel. They wanted him to turn over the Unit's orders log, and he wouldn't because he was protecting the team? I thought the log was supposed to clear the Unit because they were just following orders, which is why they were trying to steal it. That did not make any sense to me.

Anyway, I loved the ep. I have a strong suspicion that season 2 will center around Bob as a CIA agent as I can't imagine the writer's drawing any more believeable stories from the DELTA Force (or "Unit"...whatever) angle.
Would hate to see Hector and the other guy jettisoned though. The dynamic between the five actors is incredible, highlighted in the last few eps. (the UN bomb one and the Bai Ling one).
And the wive's story-lines actually got pretty interesting late in the season. I used to fast forward through those bits, but I loved Tiffy's meltdown at the end.
Can't wait until Fall.

The Hollywood Reporter just said that CBS is negotiating for a third season of The Unit (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...8fcb71109fb29), so it looks like it is going to make it.

This is by far my 2nd favorite show on television right now. It brings back the intrigue, suspense, and action of early 24. Ricky Jay is awesome. They need to get more Mamet players in here. Where's Delroy Lindo? Johnny Mesner?
I don't think Mamet's wife is a very good actress but it makes the character seem really strange, which is fine. I know Mamet doesn't write all the dialogue but it makes me wonder if he punches it up or if there's some sort of style guide to go by. The line about, "Put you and your husband's troubles in your pocket and saddle up the bar" was great.
