because I got bit by it last week and didn't get CSI recorded, Just letting you all know this week:
My Name is Earl and The Office will be "Super-sized" and run late on Thursday night and will interfere with the start of CSI: Vegas, so if you don't have a dual-tuner DVR and record both of them, make some alternate plans.
And NBC: STOP this crap. You've had 30-minute episodes of The Office on from 8:30 to 9pm this entire season. Nobody wants to be bothered looking for a 42-minute episode beginning at 8:39pm. Keep up the crap and people WILL be dropping it. People don't like having their choices forced on them.

Just warning people. I watch The Office AND CSI. Because last week The Office was long and went to 9:09 or whatever, CSI didn't record. And it would have happened again this week if I hadn't checked. THAT'S why I'm angry.

It is kind of annoying even though I welcome the extra Office screen time. I wonder if this odd time stuff will continue if the show does go to one hour.

I've been watching NBC's follow up shows (Scrubs and 30 Rock before the finale) so this doesn't usually interfere. But I have noticed a problem with my DVR when NBC sets these weird times and then slightly changes them. Last week I had Earl and Office set up early, but when I double checked it Thursday morning I noticed it was somehow set to record Earl twice (???) but no Office.

That's why I stopped watching Scrubs and ER. A couple years ago, this was a weekly occurrence with the entire NBC thursday night lineup, and I think that ER still starts at 10:01 every week.
It's purely NBC screwing around with schedules to keep viewers and boost ratings. I prefer NOT to be screwed with, so I either don't watch the show or grab it elsewhere (and I don't mean iTunes)

I'm sorry but thats an extremly stupid reason not to watch a show. That's why I stopped watching Scrubs and ER. A couple years ago, this was a weekly occurrence with the entire NBC thursday night lineup, and I think that ER still starts at 10:01 every week.

How is it stupid to say that I would like to watch the ENTIRE SHOW?Originally Posted by nateman241

I wanted to watch Scrubs, but every week, they extended the last 5 minutes of it OVER the first 5 minutes of CSI. I wanted to watch CSI more. So instead of missing the end of Scrubs every week, I stopped watching it for the show I wanted to watch more.
If that's stupid, I must be the biggest idiot in the world.

Whether or not I am isn't relevant. I can't possibly be the only person who's angry about being having to choose between wanting to watch one show end over wanting to watch one show begin, especially when it isn't an issue all season.Originally Posted by pinata242

(shocked that nobody else is angry about this. am I the ONLY person that watches The Office AND CSI?)

I disagree that NBC considers it irrelevant. If you don't count in their numbers, you can't be missed, right? I don't watch both those shows, but there are plenty of times I have this conflict, but my DVR has 2 tuners so I never get bit by this bug, only if there's 3+ shows on simultaneously.
You just prioritize what you want and figure the rest out another way (second DVR, VCR, online, whatever).

I think if we're going to be pissed at NBC for running shows long at times, we should also be pissed at CBS for moving CSI into the Thursday at 9 PM slot in the first place. That'd be just as arbitrary and ridiculous.

I'd just like to insert a bit of my personal experience.
In the (nearly) two years since first obtaining my DVR from Time Warner, I have yet to miss a recording. It automatically shifts times when needed, and, also, automatically knows if an episode is going to run an extra couple of minutes, and updates the recording to reflect this.
(Side note: There will be very little, if any, who drop "The Office" due to something as trivial as this. Nothing is being forced upon anyone...)

Wow, I am glad that my DVR (COX) gets its info from the schedule which shows the change in record times so I dont have to worry (unless there is a sports event of course)...this changing of times though wouldnt stop me from watching a show though...
