American Idol -- Top 6 "Tonight's Theme: Songs by Bon Jovi" -- 05/01/07

The Top 6 (Melinda Doolittle, LaKisha Jones, Blake Lewis, Chris Richardson, Jordin Sparks and Phil Stacey) compete head-to-head again on Tuesday, May 1 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed). Rock star Jon Bon Jovi will mentor the contestants as they prepare to sing songs by his legendary band.

Tune in the following night to see a live performance by multi-Platinum Bon Jovi and find out who receives enough votes to stay in the competition and who must go home. The AMERICAN IDOL producers have determined that the voting totals from last week and this week will be combined, and the "bottom 2" will be sent home on the live results show Wednesday, May 2 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. This week's voting window will be extended from two to four hours.

the worst case scenario has come true. I was thinking that this lot singing BJ songs would be a mess. And it probably will be.

Interesting week for Melinda and Lakisha.

Another artist lets his work get murdered for the sake of publicity. If only Sanjaya was still around.

Has Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Chaka Khan, or Christina Aguilera ever covered a Bon Jovi song? If not, I predict disaster.

From what I read at EW online, they are covering rock songs. It doesn't have to be a Bon Jovi song.

Here's a link for the suggestions they gave:

Mariah Carey covered Def Leppard, so anything's possible

BJ has plenty of sogs for the vocal runners to do their thing.... "Always" would be good

Somebody should do the Paul Anka swing version of "It's My Life".

I wish Christina Aguilera would cover "Pour Some Sugar On Me." I really, really do.

They can make up for this and last week by doing a Songs of Bjork. Why? Because at least it'd be interesting.

God I hope so. But because I think that's who should leave, it probably means neither will go...

It better not be rock songs. Dont give this group an "out".

Phil will sing "You can't Go Home".

So, how many artists/bands are in Bon Jovi's league, meaning they are smart and talented enough to have written all their own music and sold 100 millions albums? This guy has gotta be hella-rich since he gets the song royalties as well. Has Shania Twain sold 100 million yet?

Rumor is that Chris Richardson is tempting fate by singing Wanted Dead or Alive. If he doesn't knock it out of the park, he's done.

Are those worldwide numbers? In the US, Shania Twain has sold 47 million to Bon Jovi's 33 million. (as of 7/31/2006)

Almost forgot that they are carrying over the votes from last week. How annoying will it be tommorow when they keep going on about how "over 100 million votes were cast for tonights outcome."

Nasally is a form of singing. I don't know if you knew that.
