It was July 4, but they announced that change yesterday.

Snowmaker 06-30-07 09:56 AM

I'll have to try to remember.

IDrinkMolson 07-01-07 06:31 PM

Ahh, so that's what happened.
The wife just read a TV blurb about the 'week's best bets' and it said Drive on 7/4.
I went to check the ToDo list and it wasn't there.

OK, so I really don't like this development at all. Why announce that a show is canceled months ago and then bring out the last couple episodes? I only saw the pilot, and when it was announced that it was canceled, I deleted the other ep without watching. I don't remember them saying before that they would air the other eps. Now that they have, I'm pissed that I'm faced with watching it without the benefit of seeing all the previous ones aired or just waiting until a possible DVD release. I'll probably wait, but then again, I'm still waiting for a lot of other shows to appear on DVD. (Andy Richter Controls the Universe, where are you?)

He was on One Life To Live and that is still going strong. :) Firefly was a great show, and like other people I never caught it while it was on TV. I was able to watch it on DVD.

Serenity was a great movie with a great cast, unfortunately not enough people watched it. I guess a sci-fi/western is not one of the top of the list categories for people.

firteen88 07-01-07 10:13 PM

So, are these actually the FINAL 2 episodes? is there gonna be a resolution or are they just airing the only other 2 episodes they filmed?

DJariya 07-01-07 10:37 PM

No resolution. These were the last 2 filmed episodes and the original plan was to film 13 episodes. They were actually planning to do a split season with the back 7 airing late Summer or early Fall.

MrE 07-03-07 10:21 AM

Some more respect for Nathan Fillion:
The shelf life for both Firefly and Serenity suggest people are continuing to discover what they missed. Fillion is also a cast member in this summer's best indie WAITRESS (which continues to do well at the box office).

Too bad the Drive producers didn't follw through with the complete mini-series. No resolution short shrifts potential DVD sales.

Okay, just as a heads up, just now at 11:30pm on Tuesday, July 3rd, I'm watching FOX and they just showed a commercial for Drive's 2 hour finale tomorrow, July 4th. They're still advertising it.

DVDMagic 07-04-07 07:57 AM

I had whatever episodes were shown on my DVR which then decided to quit on me, so now I don't have them. I guess I'll just wait for the DVD release which will hopefully still happen at some point.

Wishful thinking on a DVD release. Tim Minear said he needed at least 13 episodes to tell a complete story....he was actually hoping for 22.

FOX is just trying to recoup some of the money they spent on these last 2 filmed episodes hence the burnoff.

You can see the 1st 4 episodes on:

If you were watching at 11:30, that was not network programming, thus you weren't watching "FOX" (you were watching your FOX affiliate). I assume it was your local affiliate airing that commercial, which was wrong on their part. Drive is NOT airing tonight.

RaraFemina 07-04-07 10:05 PM

7pm here, and Anger Management is on.
I hope they do end up airing at some point, though. It would be even better if they aired some sort of special after them so the writers could let us know where they were going with everything. :( Stupid Fox :(

mverleg1 07-04-07 10:10 PM

According to the Futon Critic:

-- As previously reported, "Drive's" two-hour swan song has been shifted to Friday, July 13 at 8:00/7:00c (view the listing). A rebroadcast of the feature "Anger Management" will instead fill the network's schedule tonight (view the listing).

The harassment continues....

Drive:bmonkey: <- FOX

exharrison 07-05-07 09:32 AM

Friday night, yay. Always a good time for a show...

MrE 07-05-07 10:48 AM

Not so good when they time it with the return of MONK and PSYCH.

MrE 07-05-07 10:57 AM

... and DR. WHO.

How's this for some harassment? FOX announced today that the two Drive episodes, and will not be rescheduled. They're not planning on airing them at all. No word if they'll post them on the FOX broadband site at Myspace.

RaraFemina 07-07-07 08:36 PM

yet another reason to hate Fox. I can't believe they advertised that they were gonna show them, then changed their minds. What assholes.

DJariya 07-08-07 03:42 AM

Maybe they know these 2 episodes will probably only get hash marks for ratings. If people weren't watching back in April, what makes everyone think people are going to watch these now.

A House or Bones repeat always seems to get 5-7 million viewers (which I don't understand why) and that's probably going to fill the spots.

Chew 07-09-07 07:02 AM

I've complained before, I'll complain again: I don't understand why the networks care about ratings in the dead of summer.

I hope these episodes show up somewhere.

It might have something to do with the fact that people still buy ads in the summer and nobody wants to put an ad on a show that nobody will watch.

DJariya 07-09-07 12:50 PM

I bet FOX couldn't find a single advertiser willing to buy a spot for these 2 airings...hence they got yanked. All the advertisers probably looked at the crappy April numbers the 1st 4 episodes got.
