Drive Crashes

Hey look, Fox killed another show!

http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/0...eut/index.html

I probably shouldn't even bother watching the ones I recorded. :(

Super X 04-26-07 12:31 PM

There's a shocker. I bet Tim Minear can't wait to be done with Fox.

cleaver 04-26-07 12:43 PM

It's at a point where you shouldn't bother watching new TV shows anymore.

Charlie Goose 04-26-07 12:51 PM

Damn, that was quick. Thankfully I didn't watch, I would hate to be left hanging like that.

Michael T Hudson 04-26-07 12:53 PM

 Nice title.

NitroJMS 04-26-07 12:56 PM

I remember wanting to watch the show back during January when I first saw promos. They let this thing cook for way too long so I really had no interest when it actually premiered. I really didn't understand Fox's marketing for this show.

rfduncan 04-26-07 01:01 PM

Ugh. I knew this was going to happen. Oh well. At least I didn't watch Monday's episode in full. :(

That article is a little bogus. Technically FOUR episodes have aired - 2 on 4/15, 1 on 4/16 and 1 on 4/23.

FOX should have just aired this in full over the summer. Being the only new programming on network TV, it probably would have gotten much better numbers than competing with :yack:Dancing with the Stars.

Shady12 04-26-07 01:06 PM

I had all the Black Donnelly episodes on my DVR and got news of its cancellation just as I was about to start watching it. When Drive premiered, I decided I'd wait a few weeks to see what happens before I started watching..Glad I did.

Kocheese99 04-26-07 01:09 PM

dammit! i really liked this show. It finally gave me something to watch on mondays. With any luck they'll throw throw together a boxset. Of course, knowing fox, they'll charge $40 for the damn thing.

maingon 04-26-07 01:10 PM

nooo!!. that sucks I really enjoyed this show.

Snowmaker 04-26-07 01:11 PM

Poor Nathan Fillion. If I were him, I'd be done with anything attached to FOX.

They could at least finish airing what they made. :( Do they really get better ratings with House reruns?

Patman 04-26-07 01:24 PM

Fox will get more than the 4.6 million sets of eyeballs with a rerun of House (usually in the 7-9 million range).

Brent_MN 04-26-07 01:52 PM

:toast: to myself for knowing better than to invest in another show.

At least 5m, upwards of 9m. So yeah, much better ratings w/ House reruns.

Shannon Nutt 04-26-07 02:02 PM

Heck, so few people watched this that CNN couldn't even get the header right...Fox ran three episodes: the 2-hour Sunday pilot, one on Monday the 16th, and one this past Monday.

I actually was enjoying this show...figures - everything I seem to pick to watch from the beginning gets the axe.

24's low ratings are a result of its own in-house demise. But if it makes them feel better, we can blame it on Drive. :)

Mind if I drink with you? I skipped this show as well :)

paulringodaman 04-26-07 02:22 PM

i rarely watch new tv

and i saw mondays episode, which was great.........what happens to the brother?

boogieman03 04-26-07 02:32 PM

I figured this would happen.

Jadzia 04-26-07 02:38 PM

But "Drive" never clicked with viewers, and its two low-rated airings on Monday seemed to hurt its leadout, "24," which posted its lowest adults 18-49 rating for an original episode in more than three years.
Maybe it's because 24 sucks this year? That is funny that Fox is blaming lower 24 ratings on Drive.

I haven't watched the most recent episode of Drive yet, and although I thought it started out cool, I was already starting to lose interest. I found most of the characters/subplots boring, I really only was interested in Nathan Fillion's character and the new mom. Everyone else was pretty blah.

Being outside of FOX didn't help much either. Two Guys and a Girl [and a Pizza Place], on ABC didn't last very long once Fillion joined either.

Maybe he should hook up with Andy Richter for a show. Cast Stacy Keach as the grumpy dad and they may have something.

Ha! Thank you so much. Everytime I see this guy I can't figure out where I knew him from in the 90's. I was beginning to think I went to college with him or something....

One has to wonder at the wisdom of FOX execs, pitting the 2 hour premiere against ABC's Sunday lineup and the season premiere of The Sopranos instead of it's regular night against virtually no competition. Oh well, at least they managed to air the episodes in order.

Ravenous 04-26-07 03:10 PM

Glad I missed mondays show

This show was so annoying, I kinda hate myself for sitting through it.

Painkiller Jane is a much better show :) Go SciFi!

He was the only reason I had any interest in the show. I thought the promos looked terrible and even if it stuck around, I wasn't sure how they could make it a series. I recorded the pilot and watched about 15 minutes of it before I stopped it and deleted it. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good.

I wanted to watch Drive, but held off since I figured FOX would promptly cancel it, and they didn't let me down. Screw 'em. I've almost stopped watching FOX altogether now. If it wasn't for their Sunday night line-up (The Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad), they would've lost me completely. There's nothing else on their network I watch anymore.

I'm certainly more wary about getting into new shows now, because of the cancellations, than I was just a few years ago.

kantonburg 04-26-07 03:20 PM

I figured a show that the promote to death would die. Glad I skipped it.
