the thing is i think the history channel edits the episodes slightly (the f word and the more extreme gore shots) and they air it stretched in HD.

yeah, i realized that after a while but it was still a good intro to the series. the upgrade to the blue ray picture or sound quality as well as the uncut version was definitely worth it.

I want to see this badly, but I'm not sure if I want to subscribe to HBO for 3 months at $14.99 a month just to watch this. It looks phenominal and the production value looks amazing. I will not seek alternative means to watch this since HBO spent close to/over $200M on this and I want to support good quality productions like this. Hell, when the DVD gets released later this year it will probably cost the same and I can keep it forever.

The DVD set will be a lot more than $45 at release I can tell you that right now.

I don't know that sounds about right for the DVD set. If other recent HBO releases are any indicator, I'd think the DVD set would list for $60 and the Blu-ray for $80. I could see the Pacific being 39.99 release week on DVD.

Still, I'd say the subscriptions is worth it to see it in first-run - I think it'll be great.

The original Band of Brothers DVD set was $80 or so when it first came out. I'd imagine this would be a similar price when it first comes out. Maybe a little less, but they've gotta recoup that $200 million they shelled out for this.
