Planet Earth tonight

I'm not a nature show guy, but I saw the pilot of this show, and you can tell that they took the time and effort to go way way beyond your typical natural geographic nature show. I have my Tivo set just in case I forget, but I plan to be watching tonight.

They're playing again tonight at starting at midnight EST and I'm sure they'll be running all week and next weekend.

The guys who produced this were on the Today Show on Friday and showed a clip where a pack (or den?) of lions took down an elephant. It was wild, for lack of a better term. I'll be checking this out (later, not tonight).

I'm looking forward to watching this in HD. According to their website, the series is 5 years in the making.

The slow motion shark attack on a seal was the scariest thing I've ever seen. Forget Jaws...that clip will keep more people out of the ocean. Damn thing must have been 20 feet long!!

Yeah this series is pretty much what HD was invented for. There are a total of 11 episodes, looks like three are on tonight. Incredible stuff.

Just watched the first one and it's very impressive and enjoyable. I can't wait to see the rest. The only thing I didn't like was the repeated references to "never before filmed" or what fancy technology they used.

Agreed. I would have prefered they left off all the "...using a special camera mounted to a helicopter..." type stuff out and just leave the viewer wondering how they got such great shots.

I just watched all three episodes tonight. I'm a sucker for nature documentaries to begin with, but this one in HD was amazing. This is exactly what HD was made for. Some absolutely incredible shots. I loved it. I'm definitely going to watch the rest.

This is probably the most stunning and jaw dropping collection of scenes from nature ever caught on film. The shots from space, and the time lapse photography are also truly amazing.

A must see for any HDTV owner.

Ive only seen 3, but apparently there are 12 ??
