Planet Earth tonight

I'm not a nature show guy, but I saw the pilot of this show, and you can tell that they took the time and effort to go way way beyond your typical natural geographic nature show. I have my Tivo set just in case I forget, but I plan to be watching tonight.

Gizmo 03-25-07 01:29 PM

3 Episodes are on tonight....

harrydoyle 03-25-07 01:48 PM

Really? Did not know that, time to check the Tivo setting.

Reading about the camera stuff in the New York Times....http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/24/ar...n/24plane.html

MrX 03-25-07 03:25 PM

They're playing again tonight at starting at midnight EST and I'm sure they'll be running all week and next weekend.

aktick 03-25-07 04:49 PM

It's on Discovery HD as well.

DJLinus 03-25-07 05:27 PM

The guys who produced this were on the Today Show on Friday and showed a clip where a pack (or den?) of lions took down an elephant. It was wild, for lack of a better term. I'll be checking this out (later, not tonight).

It is a pride of lions.

I'm looking forward to watching this in HD. According to their website, the series is 5 years in the making.

Gizmo 03-25-07 07:55 PM

Im watching it now in HD but its constantly freezing and the picture keeps pulsating.

dpz301 03-25-07 08:48 PM

sweet little panda bear. i can only imagine how great this would look in HD.

Th0r S1mpson 03-25-07 09:03 PM

Watching the third episode of the day now. Incredible stuff.

redrum 03-25-07 09:23 PM

ya it's amazing.

pdutta2000 03-25-07 09:34 PM

The slow motion shark attack on a seal was the scariest thing I've ever seen. Forget Jaws...that clip will keep more people out of the ocean. Damn thing must have been 20 feet long!!

GoldenJCJ 03-25-07 09:45 PM

caught the first one (Pole to Pole) and must say I'm seriously impressed. I put a series recording on it so I'll watch the other two eps. later tonight. Incredible stuff...

It looks Amazing in HD!

Achtung 03-25-07 10:07 PM

Yeah this series is pretty much what HD was invented for. There are a total of 11 episodes, looks like three are on tonight. Incredible stuff.

MrX 03-25-07 10:08 PM

The Baboons in the water from the first one was hilarious:lol:

Lots of good stuff in all 3

WallyOPD 03-25-07 10:47 PM

Just watched the first one and it's very impressive and enjoyable. I can't wait to see the rest. The only thing I didn't like was the repeated references to "never before filmed" or what fancy technology they used.

Agreed. I would have prefered they left off all the "...using a special camera mounted to a helicopter..." type stuff out and just leave the viewer wondering how they got such great shots.

smashthesymbols 03-25-07 11:24 PM

I just watched all three episodes tonight. I'm a sucker for nature documentaries to begin with, but this one in HD was amazing. This is exactly what HD was made for. Some absolutely incredible shots. I loved it. I'm definitely going to watch the rest.

skiblet 03-25-07 11:58 PM

This is probably the most stunning and jaw dropping collection of scenes from nature ever caught on film. The shots from space, and the time lapse photography are also truly amazing.

A must see for any HDTV owner.

Ive only seen 3, but apparently there are 12 ??
