Say what you will, but you can't expect me to believe Fox would have anything better to air. They would still be airing police chase shows if it wasn't for AI. And I do believe the high ratings for AI did buy some more time for Arrested Development (they aired a handful of episodes after AI in the past). Love it or hate it, it gets ratings for the network and if it wasn't for it, they would find more idiotic reality TV to fill the slots.

Why would Max Weinberg want to kick Simon's ass?

These are racist comments and are uncalled for and there is no room for this kind of attitude in these forums. Sanjaya is as much American like every one here. Just because he has an ethnic name and an Asian heritage does not make him less of an American.

I did not see these views during previous seasons when Chicken Little and John Stevens were kept even though they were poor singers.

Does a Mexican refer to him or herself as North American?

Thanks. Forgot the connection.

Yes, Asians. Maybe Southern Asians. The French and British are considered Europeans.

I agree about the shitty music he brings out but without him (and Simon Fuller) there wouldn't be a Norwegian Idol and I would have never heard of Margaret Berger and without the original Pop Idol I wouldn't have heard Will Young (although his first album is a stinker).

Then he just sucks. Can I say that?

This is the first season I've watched, so I can't say anything about Chicken Little and John Stevens...I don't even recognize the names as people I saw in the news in the past.

You know I did not object to any comments on his singing. I agree he is a very poor singer and I just don't know how he is still around. But your comments on his ancestry was a low blow.

Anderson: Should public executions be on tv?
Simon: I think people should be able to watch if they want to.
Anderson: Should their be commercials?
Simon: Sponsorships.

Great. Love Simon.

Wow. And you even use the phrase "Chicken Little" when it CLEARLY denotes the stereotype of the 'nerd' demographic. Whether it's a race or any other type of demographic, stereotypes are NOT PC. Kinda ironic for you to use a stereotype when railing against them. Be careful about calling the kettle black.

The funny thing about those three shows is that he pretty much took the Idol formula and put it in a new setting. Duets is obvious. Cupid basically took the Idol formula and tweaked it into a dating show, down to the 'auditions', the panel of three judges, and the public voting. The exact same thing applies to American Inventor, except they bumped the panel to four judges.

Kevin Covais was nicknamed Chicken Little on the show and he played along. It was originally his friend's idea and the AI producers picked that. The AI producers asked his permission to see if it is okay with him before they first used that on the show. Watch his exit interview where he CLEARLY says it did not bother him at all.

From tvguide.com dated 03-28-06:
In a conference call with reporters, Kevin also had this to say about...
... the "sex symbol" teasing by Ryan and Simon
"As far as [that], 'Chicken Little' and the gangster references, I can tell you that I probably encouraged a lot of that. That was the producer saying, 'Do you want to try this? Will it offend you?' And I said, 'Go for it.' I wasn't offended in the least."

Get your facts straight before equating that to the racist comments here.

I don't see how that changes anything. It doesn't mean others who share his appearance won't be offended by the connection between the character and what he looks like.

If I say it's okay for you to call me the n-word, does that mean others can't be offended?

Why shouldn't it be equated to racist comments? Any comments meant to demean a person based on race, sexual orientation, age, demographics or anything else should be avoided. Just because a person says that he/she is not offended by a stereotype does not make it right to use one. And, further, how do you know Sanjaya is offended by the ethnic comments? Maybe he's laughing at the little minds that make them and is not bothered at all, like Kevin? Seems you may be defending someone who may not want to be defended....but how do you or we know for sure?

Sanjaya has not made any statement that it is okay to make fun of his ancestry or that he should be sent to a foreign country to be an idol there.
