I don't know why we're spoilering all this, since it's just an unsubstantiated rumor, but oh well, some more comments:

The wildcard show made sense under the old format, where you had 30 finalists broken into groups of 10, and only 2 made it through from each initial group. Under the new system, it's been rendered obsolete, since you have two groups of 12 and two are dropped each week (most make it through).
