Come on, somebody ask the question!

So far, the only real work we've seen the Others doing is having Sawyer turn big rocks into little rocks. Forget having one of the main cast ask this question - I'm kind of waiting for one of the Others to ask.

Why did Jack want the tattoo to begin with? I don't really get it. His violent reaction to her saying no seemed out of character for him.

Yeah that whole tattoo was just a big BLAH from me.

I'm surprised that everyone says Bai Ling is TEH HOT. I mean really... sometimes sexy means a little more than wearing dental floss and calling it clothing.

I said virtually the same thing outloud while watching, then my buddy says, "Well Jack goes out on dangerous missions all the time."

Waaaaay back in the very first episode, Jack & Cindy (the stewardess) had a little moment. On Flight 815, she gave him a tiny airline bottle of booze, and Jack, still distraught from his father's death, said something like "That isn't gonna do it." Cindy looked sympathetic and gave him 2 or 3 more bottles and told him not to tell the other passengers. So it's not too far-fetched for him to vaguely recognize her.

What "dangerous" missions exist on the island? There are very few animals that could cause harm and the beach seems to be a relatively safe place to live. The only real threat to the losties besides the Others is the "security system" or possible getting piss drunk and falling off a cliff.

The show isn't about giving ANSWERS. It's not the bloody Discovery Channel.

It's about the fun and thrill of the ride. I enjoyed it, .

i agree with you

I was going to say - so that explains the asian characters but what about the big 5 and pyramid? Party of Five?

As do I. So are we to believe he was sent to the survivors on the beach to see if everyone was healthy? If so, why did he hang out with them so long?

Yeah, you folks need to get out more. The tiger-dyed hair alone was mega-negative-hotness IMHO. I mean she didn't really even have boobs or more than a pencil of a body.

I enjoyed it. Maybe it was the watching it in HD for the second time, but I was only annoyed by the GAZILLION commercial breaks! Tivo has certainly spoiled me.

I just don't see how you can enjoy a show that wants you to invest your time and thoughts to it due its apparent complexity, but only seems to be treading water. If the episode served to progress the overall story towards the climax/cliffhanger, then we wouldn't be complaining .. It just seems like, for now, many of these episodes serve no real purpose in the big picture of the show.

After 2 1/2 seasons, it seems like we are still being duped into thinking that something will be answered (or that the show actually has a point). I don't think we have even gotten one important question answered yet. Have we?

Are you kidding? The movie about Hanso answered quite a bit - unfortunately it also raised a myriad of additional questions to the viewers however not so much to the Losties who seem rather unphased by the experiment concepts.

Bronkster 02-22-07 11:00 AM

About Ethan being a surgeon - why is this hard to accept? Wasn't he shown to be a doctor already back in Clair's flashback when she was drugged in the medical hatch?

As for this episode - I still love the show but am getting burned out on the whole Other's side of the island.

huh? 02-22-07 11:15 AM

Here is my whole thing with this episode. I love the show, and I like some of the Others. However, last night's episode was extremely frustrating for me. I fell in love with all the characters from season one and two, and now it seems like I am watching a completely different television series.

I'm not attached to any of these new story lines (Julliet and Ben are the only ones that remotely interest me), and we haven't seen how Jack's absense is affecting all of the characters that I love. There were some pretty powerful stories in the first two seasons between Locke and Jack (science vs. faith) which are sorely missed.

How is Jack's absense affecting the leadership of the orignial group? Are they looking to Locke? I have a feeling that we are going to see Kate and Sawyer arrive back at camp and everything will be as if they never left.

I don't think I am looking for everything to be answered immediately, but it seems like the writers have fallen in love with "creating mystery". I think I liked the little hints that they used to drop which would progress the overall story arc a little bit at a time, but that seems sorely lacking now. All we get is more mystery and more questions with little indication that they intend to swing the story arc to a climax.

My thoughts exactly. I'd be ok with it if it wasn't for the promos building it up.

Manning up with Michael, grabbing a bunch of guns and going to rescue Walt seems pretty damned dangerous, and certainly not the type of thing you want to send your ONLY Doctor on, and yet it happens all the time. When someone's captured, or Jack wanted answers, he's grabbed a gun and gone looking for the Others. They did the same thing when they set the trap for Ethan. I know Jack has also become their default leader, but logically they should keep him pretected and behind their own lines.

It's obvious that the creators / producers / writers don't give a damn about this show anymore. They don't care about the quality of the show and after a 1st season of wonderful surprises and questions, they have now given us a season and a half of more questions, very few satisfying answers and a direction that is anybodys guess.

Last nights episode finally convinced me that I won't be watching this live in HD anymore. I will just watch it in SD whenever I get around to it. It's not worth staying up past 11 pm and feeling tired the next day.

Asian women are my second favorite women after Latina women, but to say that Bai Ling is hot is perplexing to me. She looks like a prostitute, but I guess that is what's in today.

CBS took over the lead at 10 p.m. with "CSI: NY," 9.3/15. "Lost" posted a 7.6/13, on par with last week's episode. NBC's "Medium" came in at 5.4/9.
So it looks like that ABC can only count on about 12.5 million viewers or less in the remaining episodes. Of course when CSI:NY is in repeats in March, Lost's viewership might go up a little. But from the sound of people here, on other websites and the people I know, they will probably end up losing a couple of more million people.

I don't think he made it all the way around. I got the impression he only walked a relatively short way around the island before he was captured by Danielle.

If someone was in a clear position of leadership among the survivors and that person intentionally ordered Jack into dangerous situations that involved killing people, it'd be a slightly better comparison. Ben's supposed to be this genius leader, the Others seem highly organized, and their way of dealing with a dangerous situation is to send their doctor? I just don't buy it. It's worlds apart from Jack becoming a natural leader of the survivors' unorganized group and taking it on himself to put himself in risky situations.

pinata242 02-22-07 12:25 PM

Right. If something happens to Jack, it isn't like he doesn't have a doctor anymore. It's the other castaways that need to step up and beg him to stay for their sake. "Let's send Scott (or Steve) instead of risking you, Jack."

Something else that I think makes it difficult to follow the events is any sense of time - and I'm not speaking of the flashbacks. I'd agree that it would be good to see the loss of Jack and the impact on the Losties, but how long have they really been gone? 3-5 days? A week? When did Desmond's story last week take place in relation to the rest of the season so far? It's very difficult to tell, especially since we are seeing this unravel over weeks/months. I think the first season did a much better job of referencing previous episodes/events to give you context for the current episode that was on.

I think you are right. He found the cable leading into the jungle and followed it, iirc.
