I loved the British version. Didn't care for the US version mainly because of Drew Carey. He wasn't funny and tried to force his humor into the interactions with the performers and his hosting/score duties.

Beyond the core group of Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie, Wayne Brady, and Greg Proops I enjoyed Brad Sherwood, Tony Slattery, Josie Lawrence, and Mike McShane as well. I'll check out the new show.

I had the DVR set to record this but instead my house caught on fire about 20 minutes before 8 on Tuesday. I didn't love the video from a couple of posts back, but I'm sure it'll be decent, I'll be checking it out next Tuesday.

Wow, house okay?

On topic, watched the one with Lauren Cohan. Funny as always. Glad to have it back. Ryan with the lip balm was fantastic.

Re: The 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' appreciation thread

Not so much, the outside of the house doesn't look too bad, the inside is mostly destroyed. So much so that it's pretty much a "fuck it, tear it down and build it again" kind of situation. People who were in the house are all okay, dog's okay...the DVR didn't make it. We have good insurance though, so we'll just be living somewhere else for a few months and the house should be good as new-ish sometime in the Fall. One lucky thing was my movie library didn't get touched at all, just need to figure out how to make them not smell like smoke.

Back on topic, glad to hear the show is still funny. I was never a fan of the Wayne Brady song stuff (or any comedic music, really) but I like him otherwise, and Ryan and Colin are always great together.

Remember that well. Laughed until I cried. Hysterical.

Yeah, not sure about even having a fourth when they bring in a celeb for half the skits. Seems like a waste.

I was thinking the same thing. The 4th does not have much to do.

I'm enjoying it for the most part and am happy to have it back. I will say that I miss having Drew as host since you could tell all of them were friends and that made it more fun to watch. I will agree that the 4th person seems kinda pointless. I don't know why they just don't have Wayne, Colin, Ryan, and (insert celebrity guest here) as the core four.

Great couple of episodes. Agree about the 4th player seeming unnecessary. They should get a woman in that spot to give the show a different dynamic.

Re: The 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' appreciation thread

Rewatched a couple episodes tonight and it made me remember something. I heard Colin(or maybe Proops) on a podcast sometime last year talking about the show and I believe he said they film over an hour of skits and they pick the best ones for the half hour. That's probably why it seems the 4th chair vs. guest is off balance.

I also recall him saying that's how they did the final season of WLIIA. All they did was pull from all those extra hours of footage and pieced together episodes for a whole season. So that last season they didn't film one new bit, it was all leftovers.

I watched two episodes last night, and enjoyed it quite a bit. I recall watching the British version back on Comedy Central way back too, and really loved it. I like Aisha Tyler, she seems to be having fun and not get in the way as much as Drew did.

Depending on how many dvds/blu-rays you have, you could open them up and sit them around the room. Then, empty an entire bottle of Febreeze in the room. That might help.

Sideways Scene was awesome. I hope they do another one before the end of the season.

Re: The 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' appreciation thread

I was really looking forward to this coming back but I don't like Aisha Tyler as the host and I'm so disappointed that they only do the same games over and over. I'm already tired of sideways scene and the helping hands one was never my favorite. I miss the games like sound effects where Ryan made the sounds for Colin, two words where they each could only say two words, and superheroes. I also don't like the guest star of the week. I think they should do away with that and just use the fourth person they've brought on the show for the week. I don't think the guest star adds anything. As for Aisha Tyler, I feel she over-explains things and when she laughs it seems fake. Drew used to be almost rolling on the floor and you could tell it was genuine. Of course it was a lot funnier then so that would also make a difference.

Re: The 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' appreciation thread

Aisha has grown on me. I've been playing catch up but it seems she has more chemistry with the guys in the recent episodes. I will agree that some of the setups are way too complicated.

Sideways scene was funny the first & second time. They've completely run it into the ground though. The one I enjoy most I've only seen them do once this year. The wigs/question game where they only talk in questions and try and stump the other player. I've been enjoying the audience members' purses skit too.

Always one of my favorites.

I dig Aisha. As much as I liked Drew he really put himself in to the skits too much. If it's one thing I noticed they haven't done is the song and dance. I remember Drew always joining in on that.

Re: The 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' appreciation thread

cwseed.com has all the Carey episodes streaming as well as the new version with Aisha Tyler.

Free, with commercials.

I think Tyler has settled in as host. I still dislike the guest stars ... it limits the games they can do and they have been about 70pct dull, 30 pct funny
