"Top Design" (on Bravo) Discussion Thread

Yawn....

It's "Trading Spaces" gone awry.

Didn't like the first episode nor did I find any of the 'designers' remotely interesting.

Anyways... Episode 1.1:

Spoiler:
The Twelve interior designers compete to create a place of relaxation for a mystery client.

... and the Mystery Client ended up being:

Spoiler:
Robert "Alexis" Arquette... the long lost transgendered sibling of Rosanna, David, and Patricia Arquette... yeah, some from the Bravo D-List!

... anyways, the team going home:

Spoiler:
Heather and Lisa... they did the Chinese Restaurant looking room.

Meh, I'm not sure about this show.

I kind of liked it I liked the challenge and some of the rooms looked cool. I agree with Goldberg74 on the Mystery Client. Strictly D list. The one guy with blond hair and glasses is a real snobbish little turd. He's a designer and has never painted a wall? Odd.

I thought it was a pretty dull start, but I'll keep watching and see if it gets more interesting. It reminded me a lot of HGTV Design Star with the fake rooms, so now I am just wondering if interior design just does't translate well to these type of competition shows.

Hopefully the challenges will get more interesting as the show progresses.

Oldham puts me to sleep.

He should have been a judge instead, so I wouldn't have to hear him speak as much.

I'm going to give the show a few more viewings before a completely drop it.

God I miss Tim Gunn and Project Runway.

Todd was horrible on the premiere but was much better on the second episode. I'm rooting for Goil. "Evil Ralphie" (Michael) was not as annoying this time and actually painted walls....although the judges were correct that his room looked like a granny bedroom.

I htought they were way too hard on the guy who designed the cat-walk room. As a cat owner, I thought that was very cool. Did they ever say whether the client liked it? I think the judges just turned up their noses at it because they must not be cat people.

That one female judge looks exactly like a younger version of Emily Gilmore from the Gilmore Girls. She could play her in a flashback!

I completely forgot this was on last night. I kept flipping through the channels thinking, "I should be watching something right now....". Man once Top Chef was gone....

I'll check it out in reruns.

Jadzia: Agreed. I liked the cat room and the little girl loved it. Same with the black material in the "Hollywood" girl's room. The judges obviously did not take into account that the clients liked the rooms. Same with the pirate theme. One judge thought it was "overdone". It's a kids room! Yeah, young Emily Gilmore seems like a really snot.

Anyone watch last night? That gal with the dark hair and glasses got on my nerves.
