Smallville -- "Labyrinth" -- 01/25/07

"Labyrinth"
Spoiler:
Clark wakes up in a mental asylum after being attacked; a fellow patient (Phil Morris) tells Clark that their doctor is a phantom who must be killed to return to reality.

Originally Aired: January 25, 2007

GuessWho 01-25-07 06:05 PM

Are these crazy kids ever going back to school (everything else seems fixed from Zod's damage) or is school written out permanently (and conveniently)?

tsohg 01-25-07 07:30 PM

Could they be anymore tacky with their product placement?
"Here take my Yaris"

mikehunt 01-25-07 07:38 PM

although I expected "yet another main character goes to the mental hospital" episode to suck, this isn't that bad

Patman 01-25-07 08:02 PM

Yeah, the Yaris product placement and announcement wasn't too subtle.

Enjoyed the Martian Manhunter's appearance. They slipped it past me on the first mention of him being from Mars, but not the second time around.

Damn, it got mushy at the end with Clark and Chloe, and then even more mushier with Clark and Lana.

MrX 01-25-07 08:04 PM

Lana and Clark crap:yack:

Good to see the Martian Manhunter. Like how they brought up his fire weakness.

Next week looks good

tsohg 01-25-07 08:07 PM

I don't know about next week it looks like a Red K ep.

aktick 01-25-07 08:17 PM

I enjoyed it, but PLEASE end the Clark-Lana back and forth crap once and for all!

And who's Martian Manhunter? (not a comic reader)

Red Dog 01-25-07 08:21 PM

Boring episode, although the Manhunter was cool.

That's exactly what it is, and we know what happens. Wild stuff will happen and at the end of the episode the reset button will be pushed, and we'll be right back where we were.

Ranger 01-25-07 09:51 PM

it was better than I thought it would be. too bad we didn't get to see more of the martian manhunter.

GoldenJCJ 01-25-07 10:04 PM

Damn! They aleady have his Smallville "Labyrinth" appearance listed.

I don't know this time. I'm sick and tired of the same damn Clark/Lana merry-go-round, but she has to find out about him soon. There's just no way they can drag it out any longer, I think. RedK might be the easy way out for them to let her find out.

Chauzer 01-26-07 12:29 AM

after an awesome episode last week, we're back to this stupid crap again this week.

typical smallville..

Ranger 01-26-07 12:36 AM

I didn't see the preview for next week but just read the episode description for it.

I cried.

I wondered the same thing. What happened to school? Did it vanish with Fine?
Allot of references to past episodes which was cool.
Loved the Jorel soap! I'd like some of that for my Bathroom.

alfredog1976 01-26-07 02:37 AM

That sound throughout the entire episode was making my headache worse :brickwl2:

ok episode, really wish they showed more of the Martian Manhunter. I was really hoping they'd show MM's true form, doubt that will happen with a TV budget.

Michael Corvin 01-26-07 07:37 AM

Mother F***er. My DVR didn't pick this up for some reason. That's twice this season, the previous was with MNIE a few weeks back.

The score was great. I couldn't help but feel like I was watching a movie.

I really enjoyed this episode. I almost wish it didn't have any of the Smallville regulars but Clark. I realize it was integral to the plot and Chloe was great as always.

cactusoly 01-26-07 09:57 AM

I watched the 'Lexmas' episode a couple nights ago on DVD and I thought this week was a cool parallel to that episode.

One can hope, but that hope is futile. The writers of this show don't have any guts. They somehow like keeping the status quo. They want allow things to move too much.

Don't happen to have Comcast do you? I can't get anything on the CW to series record. Have to individually select the episodes... :(

Me too. I wear a hearing aid and that humming music or whatever you want to call it was annoying the crap out of me.

It was very annoying to me UNTIL the very end, when it was revealed that Clark was hearing that sound too and that it had been Shelby all along barking to wake him up, I kinda dug that. Come to think of it, I really dug it, because it was that sound that made Lana fade from behind the glass right before the "treatment" and what forced Clark to finally act and "choose" his super-hero life.

I was expecting the standard story that's been done many times before in sc-fi/fantasty (DS9 - Far Beyond the Stars, the Buffy ep that this was virtually identical to) but I was pleasantly suprised with how much I enjoyed it. J'onn really helped, though.

So is Shelby the Krypto dog that Lex was doing experiements on a season or two ago? He had dissapeared for the longest time. I thought they had forgotten about him.

He was 'important' to the episode, so they had to write him back in. We probably won't see him again until next season.

 I thought this was just me for a minute. I actually had to keep turning up my tv just to try and see what they were saying.

Overall, I wasn't really impressed by this episode. I've been watching Smallville since it began and it seems like each season, they have at least one episode that is just completely out there. I wish they would stop jacking with the Lana and Clark thing and pick it up with Clark and Lois, or hell, even Chloe. Pour girl has been trying to get Clark since Season 1!!!

I had the subtitles on and it kept saying Dog barking through out the episode but I couldn't hear it over the humming.

I didn't like Chloe very much the first season or so because she was so whiney but I love her now. I'd like to have a friend like her.
About the Lana and Clark thing, I think they should drop it too. They should have left her dead in the 100th episode. They just can't seem to figure out what to do with her.

GuessWho 01-26-07 06:22 PM

Shelby = the new Pete

raven56706 01-26-07 11:44 PM

any word when CLark goes crazy and kills lana....i mean it is wishful thinking...

collven 01-27-07 02:30 AM

I thought it was kinda cool that HDNET just happened to show the Krypto episode yesterday. That was one of the few episodes I hadn't seen, so it was nice to see where Shelby came from.

wearetheborg 01-27-07 04:36 AM

Chloe: I thought we were past the Lana thing after the engagement.
Clark: I thought so too, but those a-hole writers just cant seem to let her go. I want to kill myself, this is bordering on abuse.

marty888 01-27-07 06:58 AM

Ok espisode - entertaining enough, but nothing special .... until I realize that there were stretches in some previous seasons when this would have been a vast improvement!

LaxBandit 01-27-07 10:41 AM

Was there any mention of Lois at all during Clarks dream?
LB...

wearetheborg 01-27-07 02:26 PM

Clark is a homo - he dreams about Lana but not Lois.

He was guarding the Fortress of Solitude and he heard that his master was in trouble. ;)

Erica Durance is shooting a movie so she won't be in every episode,

Mercury&Solace 01-27-07 05:42 PM

Wasn't this a total ripoff of The Usual Suspects?
When Clark was talking to the Doctor he saw all the things around him (the magazine, the soap dispenser, the employee of the month poster) and everything he was describing to the Doctor he got from things all around him. I liked the episode a lot, but when they got to that point all I thought of was Keyser Söze :)

Artman 01-28-07 10:46 PM

Great episode, why can't they all be like that...

That's what's so frustrating... a string of bad episodes and I'm ready to give up and then suddenly one comes along that renews my hope.
