So according to The Futon Critic, "The Pussycat Dolls Present" will be airing after 'Gilmore Girls' Tuesday @ 9pm, starting March 3... and in the article there is no mention of whats happending with 'Veronica Mars'... does anyone know if the show was pulled, postponed, or cancelled?

I am confused.

Strange. Everything else I've seen online says a new episode airs January 23.

Doesn't VM have a 20 episode order for season 3???
Anyhow, it's a shame more people don't know how great this show is. Sadly, odds are that it doesn't get the chance for a fourth seasons.

It is probably just one week off. There is a new VM episode next week.

I'm going to hazard a guess that VM will run solid through sweeps once it comes back next week, dealing with mystery 2. This thing will run in March, and VM will be back in April. 20 episodes minus the fall run isn't enough to take us straight through to May.

Ausiello just mentioned at the CW press panel today that it will go on an 8 week hiatus

including the hiatus it's been on? er...wtf. shucks.

My Tivo has "Show Me the Monkey" listed on 1/23 and "Poughkeepsie, Tramps and Thieves" listed for 1/30, so we've got at least two new ones coming.

What a great show that is being ruined by the UPN/CW. I will support the show by buying the DVDs, but I plan on writing a letter to voice displeasure.

Will the new hiatus also come at the end of an arc? I wouldn't have too many objections over that.

The more I think about it, it sounds like myster 2 will run from January 23rd - February 27th (6 episodes) which will bring the season total to like 15, and then the other show will probably air from March 6th till mid/late april when the final 5 episodes of the season will air (supposedly the last 5 episodes will not focus on an 'overarcing' mystery, but be mostly standalones with only the character dramas providing the continuity)... Personally, I think this might help the show, becuase the repeats are dieing the ratings... and maybe the CW is thinking about doing something like a time share with VM and reality (or maybe 'one tree hill') next season like the WB used to do with 'felicity' and 'jack and jill'...

I don't see how you can blame The CW for the fate of VM. They have kept it around for a third year and have spent considerable energy trying to get the GG viewers to stick around for the show. It just isn't working, which is really sad. I don't really see what more they could possibly do for the show.

I disagree. The ratings have been anemic and they've kept the show on for three years. I don't want it to be canceled, but even if it is, I'll be grateful for what we have gotten.

Also, the breaks this year make sense. A break at the end of each arc works perfectly. They're going to have weeks off any ways, so I'd rather they be in logical spots than randomly scattered.

Give them hell gimmepilotwings!!! I actually wrote UPN after the first season when a renewal looked iffy. This was the first and only time I've ever gotten involved in an effort to save a show too.

So who's to blame for the pathetic marketing of the show? What about the total lack of promotions? Who's to blame if not CW in that regard? Every now and then I watch my local CW network. While doing so, I have yet to see a VM promotion or anything resembling an ad for the show. Meanwhile, ads for Supernatural, Smallville, Gilmore Girls, Beauty & the Geek, among others, abound. It’s great that the CW picked up VM for a third season and that they keep giving it extensions, but what’s the point if you don’t promote the show properly? I think VM saw more publicity before the merger, when it was on UPN alone.

I'd be willing to bet that a HUGE portion of those GG viewers are people like me, who don't really enjoy what the show is anymore, but don't want to leave because we care about these characters and want to see how things end up.

If the GG was a new show, it's numbers would be about the same as VM's.

Maybe, even with the old viewers who are hanging on with GG, it's still not a good fit. My mom, not a young person, watches the GG, but she totally can't understand or enjoy VM.

They could do a lot more for the show, but they haven't. Is there a better scripted show on the CW than VM? Hard to blame the show for a terrible network that can only get viewers for reality crap and for a classic show like GG that is basically running on fumes now.

That's because, at the time, it was the only decent show UPN had. After Buffy, Roswell and Enterprise ended, Veronica Mars became the only reason to still watch anything on UPN.

Yet...UPN's ratings were as good as or better than the ratings for the CW. Sad, huh?

I don't buy the complaints about promotion unless it's a matter of pure local spots. I watch a good bit of the channel, and it gets as much promotion as GG does. It's hard to blame the network for what the affiliates are or aren't doing.

Ostroff revealed that the final five installments of this season's Veronica Mars will be stand-alone episodes, as in five separate mysteries or, as my colleague Jennifer Armstrong put it, Veronica Mars: CSI. Personally, it sounds like yet another attempt by the network to bring a larger audience to Mars and lure in some procedural fans. At this point, The CW execs need to deal with the fact that this show will never be a huge hit.

I came late to this show and it just blew me away. I can't understand why this show isn't a bigger hit. I'm 38, my wife is 28 and we love this show.

Changing the format to stand-alone shows will weaken it in my opinion.

I think it's a safe bet to say that this probably will be the last season of the show.

I don't know...if the network is pleased with the standalone episodes, I could see them gambling on it for one more year. They could hope for it to become the younger answer to Crossing Jordan, which underwent a similar change.
