Ken Burns The War 09/07. This is a new Ken Burns documentary on PBS about WWII. Should be good.

Geez Ken, could you pick a more overexposed historical event?

Even with 2 tuners and access to this doc on two different OTA HD PBS channels, it's been hard to get all these scheduled with it being premiere week.

Yet, I'm betting that it's better than 95% of other WWII material out there, with the possible exception of some of the things Spielberg has done.

Don't know how he'll top this:

But good luck anyways, Ken; I'll catch it on DVD.

I like a good historical documentary every now and then, but WWII has been covered to death. I'm tempted to try this series...I loved his baseball documentary series.

I got the World At War dvd set but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

I'm looking forward to this, though. Hopefully it's in HD

Baseball and his civil war docs we're great, as well as his Lewis and Clark Doc.

Not sure if this is true with all stations, but locally they're showing the "language edited" version in prime time, and the unedited version after hours.

I think each PBS affiliate is making their own call about the language. We are getting only the unedited version here.

Weird, I didn't realize PBS edited anything.

Can't wait for this.

Am I the only one who finds it odd they chose this week to run it? Why compete with so many premieres and popular returning series? They could have owned the audience a couple weeks ago.

is there anyway to tell which version is being aired on each affiliate? i checked mpt's website and it doesn't say anything about language or what not.

Anyone watching it in HD in Los Angeles? The dialogue is waaaay out of sync; very annoying. The SD feed seems to be fine, or at least closer to being in sync. I'm curious to know if this is a local thing or something else screwy going on.

I noticed it being out-of-sync here in OKC, too. Hopefully the rest of the episodes will be okay.

Since my HD is OTA, I have the main PBS channel and 4 sub-channels. The first episode was played on the main channel at 7, then again on a sub-channel at 9:30. Both stated "HD" in my TiVo guide.

I checked the first showing at 9 when other stuff had finished recording, and it was not in HD. The sub-channel showing was.

The main channel doesn't even broadcast it in HD?
