Boston Legal - "Nuts" - 1/16/07

"Nuts"
Spoiler:
Denny asks Alan to help him take on the Department of Homeland Security when he learns his name is on the no-fly list; a third-grade teacher is charged with wrongful death after a student has a fatal allergic reaction in class.

Paraphasing:

"To be a secure democratic, freedom loving country, some sacrifices have to be made."

End paraphasing.

Man, don't you want to slap people when they say that?

Alan Shore displayed exactly how Apple has infected ABC/Disney.

He had a big opportunity to deliver a spectular rant, instead he just made a modest point about new technology available.

Good episode all around though.

Well, it didn't look like there was a bunch of tech heads in the jury, so i'm sure he didn't want to lose them.

That, or he truly didn't want to take too long..

But seriously...why is it that hard to fix a mistake once realized that one was made?

Anyways...that teacher case was pretty fucked up. It's a damn shame.

Good episode. The cases were good, and there was some very funny lines.

DHS deserves to receive a rant like that from DEK/Alan Shore.

So did "Denny Crane" suddenly appear on the list or did they drive to New Orleans?

Yes... Nia Long said they only had two tickets, to which Denny replied that he owned a Gulfstream.

No shit.

Did I miss an ep somewhere? Who was the lawyer that was trying the case with Shirley?

She first showed up in the episode last week where Alan and Denny went to New Orleans and she tried a case with Alan.

The writers can barely handle Clarice and Clarence -- we didn't need the O, too. The no-fly list thing felt forced. And did anyone even pay attention to the teacher's trial? It's time for the writers to relax the plot lines and let the characters breathe a little.

Wasn't there an episode that implied he had a law degree and had him trying a case? I thought that was odd and came from nowhere but typical of DEK (Remember how Lucy Liu's Ling was suddenly a lawyer on Ally McBeal so she could join the firm?)

But now it appears he is back to being just an assistant? Or am I imagining things?

They explicitly stated that he had a law degree. I can't remember if they said he took the bar exam though.

That is so funny. Only on TV do people just happen to have law degrees they aren't using.

I am sure spending all that money and years studying was just something to pass the time until you could find an administrative assistant job.

When he first was represented by the firm, he was fired from a job that wasn't even in the legal field, IIRC.

It is actually very common. There are many people who graduated from law school and even passed the bar who don't use their law degrees. Granted, not many of those become secretaries.
