Good episode, although I would've liked to have seen scenes of a stand-off to an attack by the infected, Night of the Living Dead-style, so in a way, this episode was kind of a missed opportunity on that.

And was that bit about the Roanoke colony actually based on a true story? (i.e. the colony disappearing with a trace, except for the single word "Croatoan" carved on a tree)

My guess is that they didn't have the budget for it.

Great episode and I liked how they advanced the main plot with Dean ready to tell Sam what his father said before dying and seeing that there's another one of the Demon's agent out to get the Brothers.

No. The episode ended before he answered Sam's question.

I thought it was ok, the story arc part at the end saved it.

Agreed. They certainly missed the chance for some cool end-of-the-world type stuff there.

Glad to see some hints of an overall series arc returning though (as long as it doesn't become too much of a main focus).

I was surprised they were just executing people, and not even looking for a way to exorcise the virus. Why wouldn't it work the same way as any other possession?

I take it you didn't pay attention in history class either?

Ditto...but I think including sequence like that plus the "phone call" at the end would have pushed the ratings limit.

Still a great episode overall.

Probably because D/S figured they wouldn't stand a chance against a bunch of "Hulk-out" townsfolk.
