How short is Jack Black? He's practically hobbit-sized.

Well, I guess, after Alec Baldwin it's back to the suck.
The only decent bits were Amy's rant "beavs," and "Kramer, please." Can't they figure out that the Nancy Grace bit isn't funny? It was lame the first time they did it and they just keep running it into the ground every. fucking. week. And the M4 thing... make it stop. Make it stop. |
The episode gets a B- as a whole. A lot of the normal crap, but just enough good skits to bring up the average. Fox was okay as host, comedy is probably not his bag.
Regarding Tenacious D, is that even music? It's just two fat guys screaming idiotic lyrics. How did these guys get taken seriously? Press conference These Bush sketches continue to be screaming death. The only mild half chuckle came from Armisen having to keep up his gibberish as Iraqi PM Maliki. D Monologue Fox mentions how everyone else on Party of 5 hosted and he didn't. Hader runs out and does an incredible Kramer impression. I think it's a missed opportunity that they didn't have an entire bit about Kramer, but still a good job. A- Salemart They keep prices down with no health care, illegal workers, and slave labor. It's funny because it's true! B Nancy Grace Yikes, this was terrible Not only were there no jokes or laughs, but it was probably the most annoying impression I've seen in a while. D- Deep House Dish Somewhat amusing house music show. They even made reference to Rachel Dratch's departed character. She got more screen time tonight than on 30 Rock. B Lost fans Fox on an elevator, surrounded by crazy Lost fans. Best bit of the night, and hilarious. A+ Weekend Update Quite a few good jokes, and I love Aunt Linda's movie reviews. Rudolph did an awful bit about Whitney Houston. Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al talk more about Kramer. B+ Mountain man Kristen + Amy rewrite a sketch so they can make out with Fox. Usually when they're self-referential during a bit, the joke dies, but this was very funny. A Math whiz The son of two history buffs wants to be a math whiz. This week's WTF sketch. D+ History Channel Mayan civilization postpones war because they've discovered how delicious chocolate is. D+ |
When Armisen first went from his serious tone in the chocolate one to "OMG! this is SOO good!" I had to  at that. the rest was no good.
|
I missed the opening and the monologue. Wouldn't have even tuned in if I didn't remember The D were on. Still, I flipped around for most of the show watching "30 days" on FX and some lame teen comedy on TBS because the lead chick was cute.
Salemart I'm not entirely sure this was an attempt at humor. F Nancy Grace Awesome impression! But when did Forest Gump have a gender reassignment operation, change his name to Nancy Grace and get a talk show? F- Deep House Dish Can Goodburger ever appear on camera without appearing to be entirely too amused with himself? Was this suppose to be a parody of an existing show or just yet another random talk show with an odd host and weird guests? D Lost fans I don't watch lost and I'm don't know who the guest host is, so this wasn't my bag. Still, I liked Armisan bitching and the 'no spoilers' stuff because I can relate, in fact I'm not even going to deduct points for the spoilers (I got S1 as a blind buy but haven't watched it yet). B Weekend Update Missed most of this, caught the movie reviews and Pholer's beav monologue. The monologue was moderately funny but the reviews were just a rehash of a one-joke character. The 'ratings' were the only funny part about the skit the first time and this appearance just seemed to be a rehash of that. C+ (for what I saw) Mountain man Look, it's the elevator skit with costumes and the funny parts taken out. F Math whiz The best skit of the night, which is really an insult to the entire show. B History Channel I vaguely recall a former cast member talking about how much money SNL spends on sets and costumes just to distract from how bad the writing is, this skit seems to epitomize that. F The D Missed almost the entire first song. I can't even remember what it was now. Second Song: "The Metal" Not a bad performance and an Ok song. The costume was pretty cool. B I was really hoping for a performance of "Beelzeboss", but knew that was a long shot. It's the best song on the new album by far. |

I liked the monologue, Sales Mart skit and the appearance of Aunt Linda on the WU, the rest I found uninspiring and boring.
Next week should be interesting with Annette Benning hosting the show. |

But I thought they were funnier 5 years ago - their joke has gotten old and stale... |
Quite frankly I thought this was the worst episode this season. Worse than Dane *he's not fucking funny!* Cook and Ludacris combined. Simply awful. Matthew Fox doesn't have a funny-bone in his body. His skits were painful as he tried to act funny, and failed miserable. All the skits were horrible. Usually each show has one awful skit. This show? It's like they took a bunch of the cut really, really, horrible skits from the entire season and made it into this show.
The opening was okay, not amazing. Nancy Grace was the worst skit of the season for me. The techno show was mostly bad. Kenan was the only saving grace, but their "performances" made me want to shoot my speakers, and were horribly performed. Lost fans? I got incredibly fucking pissed because I was saving the Lost finale for closer to the return date. Thanks a whole fucking lot for telling me who died you dipshits. If the episode isn't even a month old, don't spoil it. Weekend Update was horrid, aside from the Beaver speech and Aunt Linda. That said, they keep using Aunt Linda *every* show and it is going to get very, very, *very* old. Mountain Man sucked so bad I wasn't sure if the performers knew how bad it was from the start and went improvised to save it at first. Jesus, awful. Math Wiz? Okay, seriously. That was actually worse than Nancy Grace. Made absolutely, absolutely no sense at all. Seriously, not only did the skit seem like some random Family Guy joke, was bizarre and illogical, but not a single joke. I mean not only did it get no laughs from the crowd, but there were NO JOKES IN THE SKIT! How can a comedy show have a skit that doesn't even make an attempt at having a SINGLE joke? History Channel? Uhhh... Even worse than all the other skits. The whole chocolate thing was just insane and not even remotely funny. The performances sucked hard. Overall, this was the worst episode in recent memory from me. I can't even give it an F in good faith. I give this a "What?" and overall a Z--------. And that is being extremely generous. |
I was scared, but those fears were put to rest in the first few skits. I didn't watch it last night (went and saw "Casino Royale" instead) but I just got done watching the tape. Overall, I'd give it a B-. Not stellar material the entire night, but no real groaners, and Fox did alright. I fast forwarded through both D performances (can't stand them).
Bush/Iraq Press Conference Andy Samberg should not be allowed to be in these skits, he can't make a prewritten question make sense. Other than that I thought that Armisen's gibberish was quite authentic, but loved the bit about "flashlights" and the other "necessaties" they were missing. B Monologue When Hader came out as Kramer, I was about to roll my eyes and then heopened my mouth and it was Kramer. Wow! What a great impression. It made a good monologue better. For a minute there I thought Fox was going to sing. A Sale*Mart Oh dear. I wonder who they were talking about? ;) C Nancy Grace Not a fan of the CNN skits (any of them) at all! FAN was okay, as was Fox. Her line of questioning about her parking ticket was a rehash of Hammond as Chris Matthew's interogating Senator McCane about running for president. Same joke over and over, but in the latter case it was actually funny. D Deep House Dish I like this bit. The way that Maya ("tilt... and freak.. tilt... tilt... and freak") plopped down on the couch and showed her 'glass eye' were funny. Fox's DJ Lux was okay, but Amy's 8th character in this skit was funny as usual, she made herself dizzy. Not sure I like T'Shane over T'Ara, but he was okay. FAN's reactions to him were priceless. B+ "Lost" Fans I really like Armisen's "New Yorker" character in this skit. Fox was great. Everything clicked. Great sketch. A Weekend Update  Aunt Linda... Whitney... Jackson and Sharpton... "Kramer please." rotfl B Mountain Man - "Can I Have A Piece of Pie?" I had to watch this one several time, I was laughing to hard in some parts. Called my wife in to see this sketch and the monologue. When Maya came out dresse like Loren, I lost it again. A History of Math Professor Two things were missing a the end of the sketch... the TV and laughter. F History Channel: Mayan's Discover Chocolate Pretty funny. Huge production work... simple joke. C |
coladar, they didn't spoil the fall finale episode of LOST. so you're getting pissed about nothing.
and i know people like to save episodes, but come on, there has to be a statute of limitations on spoilers. i think a month is long enough. :) i actually liked this episode ok. i liked the mountain man sketch ("I hired a language coach to nail the dialect!"), although it did go on too long. and the history buff sketch was decently funny. it was an obvious parallel to a son coming out to his parents, and forte gets me to laugh with his yelling. not sure why, just cracks me up. |
I turned the channel during the Nancy Grace skit and never came back.

The funny part is that his complaining about the spoilers was the exact thing that was addressed during the skit. The only thing I laughed at during this episode was the Kramer impression, Lost fans, and when it occurred to me that I keep wasting time on this show. D- for the ep, D for the season so far. It just sucks that the two funniest people on the show (Armisen and Wiig) get the least amount of screen time. Meanwhile, Amy Poehler continues to get into 90% of the sketches somehow. Why can't Armisen bust out the Ferricito skit? It's been a while. |
Because that'd be less time for Poehler to deliver another riotous Nancy Grace skit..
|
Not much to say at the start of this one. Just make me laugh, show.
Cold Open: Bush (Jason Sudekis) at a press conference in Jordan. Not the usual "Bush is an idiot" gag, so that's something. And Forte is in the sketch, so I guess there are no hard feelings. Monologue: Bill Hader interrupts Fox's effective setup, doing a very good Kramer impression, to play off the whole Michael Richards thing from a couple weeks back. Who would have thought a Kramer impression would have ever been relevant again? Commercial: Wal-Mart parody. Too short to be effective, but nice try. Nancy Grace: Looks like we have another recurring bit. Not bad though. Deep House Dish: Another recurring bit. Didn't think we'd see this back with Dratch gone, but they explain her absence (which almost makes the audience sad). Her replacement (Samberg) doesn't work out well. Next Week: Annette Bening and Gwen Stefani with Akon. My grandmother used to sell Akon for a living. Hey now! Matthew Fox in an Elevator: Fox, as himself, is bothered by Lost fans in an elevator. I'm sure this happens to celebrities all the time. Like when Dana Carvey and Kevin Nealon would do it on Saturday Night Live. This one is a little more ego-stroking for Fox though. Tenacious D: I'm skipping past this because, although I'm a huge fan of the D, I don't want to hear any of their new songs until I see the movie. I'm sure they rocked though. Weekend Update: Kenan and Hammond do a solid bit as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Wiig returns as Amy's Aunt Linda to review the movies she doesn't get. Amy's later rant about celebrities not wearing underwear will certainly make the internet rounds. Maya does an okay job with some weak Whitney Houston material. Crazy Mountain Man: The "actual" sketch here degenerates into an excuse for all the female cast members to break character and make out with Matthew Fox. Maya shows up as Lorne Michaels to attempt the same. Creepy, yet interesting that the show continues to make strides to break down the fourth wall. Home from College: Samberg comes home from college and confesses to his History loving parents that he's dropped History and instead wants to be a Math major. They don't react well. Grows more absurd as it goes along, but it's fine. The Mayans Invented Chocolate: Nothing else really to say about this one that the title doesn't suggest. Tenacious D: Looks as though most of the cast got involved with this one. Fox seemed hesitant to fully devote himself to any of the more comical characters he was given to do, but overall it was a decent hosting effort. No real stand out sketches but nothing really awful either. Solid show. B- |
surprised the D sang Kickapoo and didn't have meatloaf and dio come out to sing their parts. that would have been cool. i guess they were busy.
