Has this been discussed... Could a lowly local cop like Tritter really get away with freezing all these accounts and putting Wilson out of business? Or at least get away with it without legal repercussions?

kenbuzz 11-29-06 12:02 PM

I thoroughly enjoyed Laurie's acting in the scene in his office when he absolutely lost his cool and started yelling at the team. Not even a HINT of his native Queen's English, he has absolutely mastered his American accent.

There are a huge number of folks who have no clue that he's British, and who would be floored to hear him speak when he's not acting. Kudos!

Definitely a good point. I didn't watch the first season.... just caught one episode and part of another and then it came highly recommended so I picked it up in between 1st and 2nd. I didn't know until after watching all the episodes he had to talk with an 'american' accent. It's done exceptionally well, and he was quite funny on SNL last month.

RichC2 11-29-06 01:26 PM

I still like the episode early on in the first season where he speaks with his original accent "Sorry it's so late, I'm in England." or something along those lines.

I like the linked stories, it keeps the characters and their relationships pretty dynamic in the face of some ridiculous situations and keeps the show feeling fresh admist the formula.

House punches like an Englishman.

Patman 11-29-06 03:34 PM

That was a feisty ol' right jab in Chase's kisser.

So does anyone know why House won't be airing next week?

This bugs the hell out of me as well because I would think Wilson needs to get a lawyer and sue the hell out of the city for Tritter's actions.

Because it's no longer November, and they don't produce enough episodes to air a new one every week. It's still airing, just a rerun: "Three Stories" from season one.

Patman 11-29-06 10:15 PM

Three Stories is an awesome episode, catch it if you've never seen it.

I would think getting the ok to look at medical records would be tough too, especially since he was even looking at them on his day off.

marty888 11-30-06 12:14 AM

I have to agree that Tritter being able to freeze personal bank accounts is a bit of a stretch, both as something that he could actually do, and as something that wouldn't prompt some sort of legal response from those affected. For me, it weakens the plot line - it would be much more effective (and much more realistic) if he was only jeapordizing their professional status to make them turn.

This whole scenario could've been a lot more interesting if Sela Ward was still on the show as the hospital's lawyer. They ought to have someone as a semi-regular. I can't imagine how many times a year House would get sued.

CKMorpheus 11-30-06 03:42 AM

I can't believe people aren't digging the Tritter story line. I think this whole situation is coming to a head really fast. People have been trying to get House to quit Vicodin in several episodes, and it's usually forgotten about by the next episode. I am absolutely fascinated with how they are breaking this character down to his core. For most of the second season it was just 'sick person, diagnosis' 'sick person, diagnosis,' which is all fine and dandy, but I want to see some character development. I think this is a real improvement, IMHO and I'm shocked to see how it's being received.

I can't wait to see how the next few weeks play out.

On another note: When is the next new episode airing? I thought after that several month hiatus it was going to be straight shooting till the season finale. I am so frustrated with these breaks in the middle of a season.

movieking 11-30-06 06:32 AM

Three Stories is the best House episode ever, IMO. It also won the Emmy for best episode or whatever the category is called.

The promo at the end of the episode mentioned a new episode in 2 weeks. Considering that that's going to be the Christmas episode, it's likely the last new episode until the new year, which would be consistent with last season. Considering that Morse was signed up for 6 episodes, this next one should be the conclusion of the Tritter storyline.

You must be thinking of some other show. The only way for a show to air new episodes straight through to the end of the season without reruns is to start in January, like 24 is doing. House actually started earlier this year than it did last year. The options for a show starting in the fall are either to have a gigantic break in the middle, like LOST and Prison Break are having, or to have a series of smaller breaks, with the occasional rerun. The majority of shows use the latter.

The thing about the Tritter storyline is that Tritter is an even more abusive jerk than House, plus his actions are actually causing more harm to House's patients, with House being distracted by pain/withdrawal. Besides, House's addiction is questionable. At the beginning of the season when he was pain-free he also quit taking meds. And I don't think there is any pattern to suggest his drug usage in itself is putting his patients at risk.

Charlie Goose 11-30-06 08:19 AM

Although it does have a few holes in it, I'm liking the Tritter plot too. Besides, no show is totally true to life. David Morse is chillingly effective as Tritter, he's always been a great actor.

The story line with Tritter was necessary IMO...House just couldnt keep going this way with the Vicodan. It was a good way to get someone else to address it. Seriously, I love House, but his abuse was going way over the line and his treatment of his Wilson.

Loved the scene with Tritter calling Cuddy out, saying that they failed him. David Morse is an unreal actor...he should be working more.

argh923 11-30-06 11:51 AM

He really should be. Great, GREAT actor.

I can't wait to see Three Stories again, and this time in HD.

BDB 12-01-06 01:55 AM

In no real world scenario, and I know this is television, but no way would tritter or any cop be allowed to sit down with any of them without a lawyer. I'm so surprised that Cuddy and this hospital with all the money it has not putting a shitload of lawyers on the case.

Not good.

AudioWizard 12-01-06 05:49 PM

Now do you think Wilson agreed to talk because he wanted to beat Chase and get a good deal or because he wanted to beat Chase and help House?

Patman 12-01-06 05:58 PM

I'm hoping he's setting up Tritter (pump him up with bad info and make Tritter look like a dumbass for trumped up charges against House).

It's not apocryphal, it's in the Bible. And odds are most of the viewers do know that bit of info, since about 80% of Americans identify as Christian.

Even failing religious connections, the term "30 pieces of silver" is right up there with "et tu Brute?" as a popular quote to use in reference to betrayal. It's really no odder than the show making a reference to any other type of popular culture, since there's always going to be someone that doesn't get the reference.
