I thought it was a great episode. I'm glad to see Jack finally grow some balls and do something. I guess locking him up all alone gave him time to think of what to do.

I was half expecting Sawyer to get shot and Jack would have had to perform surgery on him and try to save his life.

I know Jack was upset to see Kate and Sawyer together but I don't think he could actually leave the others (not THE Others) behind on the island while he gets to go home.

Eh, I wasn't impressed. Not a bad episode, not a great episode. I can wait until February 7th to see the next one.

I am looking forward to Daybreak show though, looks interesting.

Glad to see the Firefly/Serenity cast getting some work, very cool to see Nathan on the show.

I thought it was a great episode, Jack got some balls to do something, Sawyer got laid, Kate looked good  more interesting things like Eko's stick, the list, Alex, Kate's preggo test, all sorts of cool shit, its going to be a tough 3 months.

Kate

Nathan Fillion just can't stay away from those criminal women who use fake names and drug him.

mbs 11-09-06 12:52 AM

So does anyone remember who Jacob was/is?

Was it the guy that M-Rod's character killed?

wow, these fall episodes have been dissapointing

jack, sawyer, kate are locked up by the others
desmond can tell the future
eko dies
jack holds ben hostage

nothing old or new gets resolved... again

Jimmy James 11-09-06 01:38 AM

It has been only 6 episodes. Has anybody compared this 6 to the opening 6 of season two? I haven't, but my guess is that I was more satisfied by this group than that one.

Is Scott Bacula joining the cast?

Pretty underwhelming episode. it seems like the show is trudging along and going nowhere.
Good to see Nathan Fillion though.

I'm not sure how that went over some people's heads.

Dammit, didn't he watch Gilligan's Island? Gilligan wished for ice cream (which he got -- twice) and then he wished to get off the island, at which point a little chunk of island broke off and drifted away slightly. How could a well educated guy like Jack have missed that? :hscratch:

Prior to watching this episode, I had thought that EW had indicated prior to the season that something mind-blowing was going to happen in this episode and was very disappointed that nothing that amazing had actually happened; but now checking their website, that's not exactly what they said:
Spoiler:
Three new cast members will also crash the island: ER's Elizabeth Mitchell (''We'll confirm that she's sexy, but we can't confirm whether she's an Other,'' says Cuse), Related's Kiele Sanchez, and Love Actually's Rodrigo Santoro (who's been dubbed the Brazilian Tom Cruise but, according to Cuse, ''will not be jumping on any couches''). And we'll learn what transpired after Desmond turned the hatch's fail-safe key and lit up the firmament. ''On a scale of 1 to 10,'' hints Lindelof of that event's importance, ''it's a 10.'' But there may even be an 11: ''Something's going to happen in the middle of season 3 that blows the doors off the show again,'' he says. ''You'll look at [the Penny scene] again and say, 'Sixty percent of what I thought I saw was dead-on, but the other 40 percent I never even considered!''' Consider us, as usual, 100 percent confused and intrigued.

Pretty intense episode. Can't wait until February.

Not sure what the disappointed people were expecting...

slop101 11-09-06 01:50 AM

Am I the only one wondering why they never addressed last season's cliff-hanger?

You know, the woman looking for Desmond and the guys in the Arctic?

Boo freaking hoo. Go watch 24 or Prison Break if you want instant gratification and plotlines that last 45 minutes. The rest of us will keep enjoying the mystery.

The word from very early on was that we wouldn't see that covered in the front 6.

Absolutely. It was fan-fucking-tastic and I can't wait till February. Flashbacks showed a different side to Kate and a nice contrast to her behaviour on the island, Jack was awesome, cliffhanger was amazing and IMO better than the Season 2 finale cliffhanger. Those last 5 minutes I watched with my mouth agape.

hahn 11-09-06 03:47 AM

:hscratch: Why was Kate so upset about having a negative pregnancy test? Why did she decide to run when the US Marshal told her that he would stop pursuing if she settled even though he knew she wouldn't? Why wouldn't she settle? I'm confused about Kate's backstory.

Shannon Nutt 11-09-06 05:25 AM

Here's the problem I have with last night's show. The producers came out and said episode six (the last one until February) was going to feature a big reveal that would change the way we thought about the island and the castaways and the show in general.

Then last night...nothing. It reminds me of when TWIN PEAKS promised to reveal the killer of Laura Palmer at the end of Season 1, then again in the first episode of Season 2, and didn't get around to it until halfway through the second season.

Sure, I'll still tune-in in February, but if borderline fans tune out, I can't say that I would blame them...I strongly believe now that the writers/producers either have no long-term ideas where this story is going, or don't have enough good ideas other than what they have planned for the end of the season, and are trying to do a lot of "filler" stuff until then. This season has been pretty aimless and uneventful.

Now if that guy had actually SHOT Sawyer, then we'd all have something to talk about for three months!

I guess pregnancy would have forced her to settle down and stop running. After all - it seems like that is all she really wants. When she called the FBI, it seemed genuine that she wanted to return to a normal life.
