What do you think of Lockes vision he had in the steam hut? He envisioned Ben in a position of power, being in control as the security agent at the airport and that was before Hurley told him that ben was the leader of the others

Show had some cool parts, but was very weak overall (just like S3E1). They need to get JJ Abrams to work on the show again IMHO.
I don't get the complaints personally, mostly because it remained entertaining throughout, but

It had more of an island feel to the show, which has kinda been missing. I thought Smokey was going to appear, but I guess the growl we heard last week in the previews was the polar bear.

I'm so sick of flashbacks, and I realized tonight that I want every character but Sawyer to die immediately. And what the hell ever happened to the smoke monster? Now they just run around the jungle like they own the fucking place! Or what about the crazy woman from Babylon 5? Is there a narrative going here, or do they just write this show in 5 minute segments?
I don't even know why I watch this shit.

I will agree that's one issue the show has had since the end of Season 1. The split parties aspect makes it hard to grab on and follow a singular island plot. Whereas in season 1, you knew where it'd continue onto in the next episode, even if it was following a different character it'd be a continuity of the same overarching plotline. Seasons 2 and 3 split it up, and now it's a bit more scattershot, but it seems more focused this year than it did last.
That said, I'm going off the expectation that it'll all cross back and join in the middle.

Even the polar bear stuff was a bit forced, I thought. It didn't seem integral to the plot like so many other details in this series do...er...appear to...

So is the polar bear the same bear that was in the cages that Sawyer and Kate are now in that figured out the fish cookie trick before Sawyer did? And what was with the toy dump truck in the bear cave? Have we seen that before?

Locke was growing pot with a hippie commune.
I was expecting him to blow away Eddie, and then end up in the wheel chair through psychosomatic guilt. Which would tie in with him losing his voice because of guilt he felt over Eko and the events in the hatch.
Since it looks like the hatch is destroyed, what happened to the guns and ammo? And all of the albums? And the food?

I have to admit, I had huge hopes for this episode and I was a little disappointed in the end. Everything about this ep seemed taylored to what I like about the show,
For example:
1. Locke episode. I love Locke and felt his character became very weak in S2 constantly whining about the hatch and the button. Finally he was going to get back to his ass kicking, mysterious, spiritually motivated self.
2. Boone. I miss Boone and think his death is the only one on the show so far to have any sort of emotional resonance. I think there's still a story to be told with Locke coming to terms with what happened to Boone and hoped we might get a slice of that tonight.
3. Polar Bears are back. The polar bears were one of my favorite wtf aspects of the first season and I was glad to see they haven't disappeared.
4. Hurley, Eko, Desmond, and others finally make their S3 debut. I really don't care for Jack (or the Others really) and was glad his story was put on hold for a week in order to focus on other characters.
5. A very "Island" centric episode. This ep harkened back to S1 when there were no Dharma Initiatives, hatches, buttons, or condescending, holier-than-though Others. Just a creepy jungle with polar bears. I like that.
All this being said, the pieces just didn't come together for me. I liked the hallucination sequence, but it seemed somewhat gratuitous and Boone's appearance (though welcomed) didn't do much for me. Locke's flashback was somewhat interesting in theory, but it ultimately went nowhere and didn't move his story forward in any way. And that's coming from someone who digs the flashbacks and hope they don't get scrapped. While it was nice to have Hurley and others back, they didn't have any time to make any sort of imapct on the episode. I almost feel like this episode should have been Locke and Eko only, because while they didn't have enough screen time to make a difference for their own stories, I felt Charlie, Hurley, Desmond, etc... did take away from the supposed gravity of Locke and Eko's situation. I still enjoy watching the show and will continue watching, but it's episodes like this one where everything was set up to deliver awesomeness and the crew just can't pull it off that make me nostalgic for S1 when everything was still so fresh. Oh well.

I've absolutely loved every single episode until this one. My wife was the same way. We both said to each other when it was over "Is this the end?".
I'm praying this was just a bad week.
