Battlestar Galactica to NBC as midseason replacement

Battlestar Galactica has been apparently picked up by NBC as a midseason replacement. Hopefully this means first run HD broadcasts.

That's good news and bad news. It will definitely get more exposure and more viewers, but if it takes the Monday at 10pm timeslot, it will be up against CSI: Miami which is already well established and the most watched show that night. Plus, the network censors may kill alot of what makes BSG a great show.....will they allow "Frack" or will they think it's too close to the F-word? That sex scene with Saul's wife and Dean Stockwell would probably not be allowed on the network.

I fear this may be a case of 'better the Devil you know.'

Is this "plays on SciFi on Friday, repeats on NBC on Monday" or is it "the show is compeletely done on SciFi and can only be seen on NBC"?
I would expect the former means the focus/vision will remain the same while the latter doesn't and could mean it's days are numbered when we don't see "big three" ratings.
Also, Groucho's questions.

Well Heroes is a niche show and it is doing well. I think NBC knows to leave well enough alone.

Oh for heaven's sake, the unashamingly anti-Right WEST WING aired on NBC for 7 seasons, I can't imagine NBC would have a problem with the content of BG. The only real question here is if BG has enough of a fanbase to support a primetime network show...I'm not sure it does.

More eyeballs for BSG is a good thing, I just wonder how many more people will be able to watch it that can't now? If they move BSG over this year, are they just going to rerun the eps we're watching now? Wouldn't that canabalize their ratings right out of the gate?

Does this mean the show will air from the beginning? And if the ratings are low (by network standards anyway) will they be quick to brand the show a failure and pull the plug on a program that was very successful where it was?

They're going to have to start from the beginning, otherwise new people jumping onboard now will have a helluva time what's going on.

All they need to do is show the recap episode that aired just prior to this season. Then hit the ground running with the first episode of season 3. Put it after Heroes and then re-air it on Friday nights in it's current Sci-fi channel timeslot. A few commericals for the DVD box sets mixed in will go a long way to get the non-fans interested in catching up.
