so two weeks in a row, it takes the whole episode just to get to an interesting part with "Mr. Hawkins". maybe i should just always fast-forward to the last 5 minutes.
i take that back, i did think the short scene with skeetgyver finding the planes was interesting. but that's about it. of all the times to cheat on your wife, during a fallout, coupled with a blackout, doesn't seem like the best time. I'd assume his wife would want to know where he is. |
So...
What was up with Skeet's reaction when the Black guy said who he was? |

Yeah - but it will be nice to see the nerd tap that popular chick. I'm definitely enjoying the show though. It won't win any awards but it keeps me entertained. |
You know, if this was LOST, skeetgyver would of kept the information from the black box to himself, so at least we got to hear it.
Yes having your affair during a nuclear attack, not the smartest thing. |

I like the show and look forward to the next episode.

I thought this was, by far, the best episode of the series so far. If I hadn't enjoyed tonight, I would've given up on it, but I'll stick around a few more weeks at least.

I liked it too, although I can't explain why.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt earlier but they are really playing fast and loose with the geography and science. Why was the meat safe to eat if everyone in town had to be underground to avoid radiation poisoning? I know, they they just "cooked" the radiation out of it. I thought the airplane discovery scene was good, very "Planet of the Apes". I'll keep watching. |

Anyone speak Chinese or Japanese or whatever language was being used during the broadcast? Just seeing if we could get a translation.
BTW, can someone fill me in on exactly what the situation is with the power in town? Is it on or off? Some places don't seem to have power at all, yet that damn TV in the bar is running 24/7. If they're running it off a generator, seems like a big waste of power, doesn't it? |
I'd provide a translation of the Mandarin for you, but unfortunately I don't know any ex-cops from St. Louis. (They got up to speed after 9/11, you know).

So they have the power on there but not at the hardware store, Dave's Discount Shoe Depot, etc. |

And WTF happened to all that radiocative dust? It DISSOLVED in the rain?! Good Christ, if a radioactive cloud really passed over Jericho, their effing Geiger counters would be clicking off the dial for decades -- rain or no rain. If anything, the rain would make the radioactive affects worse. You know, I had the same problem with Surface last year. If you're going to make a scifi show, don't use Hollywood chimps as writers. Use writers who have, as a bare minimum, a basic understanding of science and technology. Otherwise your audience will laugh you all the way to the unemployment line. This show's on life support AFAIC. |

Of course with the "attacker" not unidentified, it is hard to speculate on whether his bombs might be far dirtier than ours. |

Ciao, Smithsguy Philadelphia Atlanta GA Chicago IL Dallas TX Denver CO San Diego CA Fort Bragg CA Portland OR Upon closer inspection of the far shot of the map there are 2 hits in CA. The second looks to be Fort Bragg. |

Of course with the "attacker" not unidentified, it is hard to speculate on whether his bombs might be far dirtier than ours. That's what I was thinking too. The map makes it look like a handful of major cities were targeted, although surprisingly Washington is not one of them. My guess at this point are small-scale nukes - probably smuggled in by terrorists. Now the question is if only 7-8 cities were hit, would that necessarily bring down all ground-to-air communications? |

Philadelphia Atlanta Chicago Dallas Denver San Diego Portland Isn't this at least 1 hit shy of what was shown via the pushpin sequence in last week's episode? No NYC, no DC, no LA/SF? C'mon. Looked like NYC to me instead of Philly. I also thought there were 2 in California - San Fran and either LA or SD. |
Dallas was not on last week's pushpin map IIRC, but it's definately on that news pic.
|
Yes, I also saw 2 in California. I would guess San Diego, based on the push pins and San Fran.

Our nuclear weapons are all fusion-enhanced and have TINY fission cores. For comparable yield, fusion weapons are much cleaner. And in any case, hundreds of nuclear weapons have been set off on US soil, above ground, in tests. Certainly at ground zero, effects linger. You can only stay at Trinity site a few hours, and you can't roam around some of the Nevada test range. Still it is not that far to Las Vegas and some other important cities. There was NOT a several hundred mile swath of fallout and destruction. If Denver was nuked, you wouldn't want to hang around, but the fallout a couple of hundred miles away would be minor, and a rain storm that started in Denver would have washed it out long before Jericho. |

philly's only 100 miles from new york, and that's a pretty zoomed-out map.
