I hope they give Lana a brain this season. Last season she was so preoccupied with herself and her needs. The finale last season got me to really hate her character even more when she raced through the chaos in Metropolis just to be with Lex/Zod.

I gave up on Smallville in the middle of last season
I ask because I REALLY didn't like the fact they killed this character off.

Anyone that hasn't watched season 5 deserves what they get if they are reading season 6 episode threads.
Now if a discussion goes off on a tangent in, say, a Lost thread, and someone mentioned Jonathan's death on Smallville, then it would be a big spoiler.

The only spoilers in here would be about the current episode (prior to airing) and anything about future episodes (including preview stuff shown during ending credits). At least that's the rules as I understand 'em.

Smallville has proved that one of the few things it gets right is a kick-ass season finale and a matching season opener so this should be no different.

Well, I enjoyed the season premiere so much that I found that I could not turn away towards "The Office".
Loved Clark stink-palming Lex-Zod, loved that they squeezed in the "Kneel before Zod" line.
Lana showed some grit and determination.
The meeting of CK, and James in front of Chloe was a light touch given the rest of the episode.
Lionel is on his way to becoming the world's foremost Krypto-stenographer. Heh.
Now we have a season of one-shots to look forward to. Stephen K. DeKnight did a good job with the season opener.
