He was in the creds, and they added Louise Lombard as well (Sofia Curtis), so we'll probably see even more of her now.

Yeah, I was just coming to post that Louise Lombard got added to the main credits. Guess we get to see more of her. Not a great character, by any means.

Where was Danny B in the episode? My TIVO cut off early for some reason did the episode run long?
What happened at the end? The last bit I saw was Brass and Warrick talking in his office.

They might as well have started the episode with the last 5 minute and then not have made it a two-parter. The two main cases were totally devoid of any substance and just ended abrubtly.

Mine cut off at the 58 minute point too. Bizarre.

The sesame seed conclusion for the other story didn't really work either.

The Quantum Leapesque cliffhanger ending was unnecessary (though it did leave me feeling that next weeks episode is going to be much better then the one I just watched, which is not really a good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it).
Other then that, I am glad they didn't spend any time on the moronic romance (other then the cheesy smirk on Fox's face when Grissom gave her food).
Overall, I am sad to say that this episode was quite dissapointing. Possible that (save for a major cast change), the show is starting its inevitible decline.
Oh well, couldn't last forever. I will still tune in every week, but my expectations are dropping. Granted, if they killed off/dumped Sara, the show would exponentially improve, but still not be where it once was. Perhaps the writers rooms needs a housecleaning as well.
Normally, I just let the fictional locations and minor production trivia slide, since it is a TV show, and not reality, but something about this episode bugged me:
START CONTINUITY RANT:
Imploding the Rampart? WTF?
Not more then three seasons ago, wasn't the Rampart was touted as Brauns newest property (remember the scissors?)? In reality, the Rampart (which actually does exist, unlike Orpheaus or Tangiers) is part of the JW Marriot in Summerlin, nowhere near the Strip, but that is irrelevant. Since when is Rampart center Strip?
Also, given that the Rampart is where Bally's is, why change the sign to read "Olympia" but leave the Jubillee sign, which is Ballys signature stage show? No to mention that the photoshopping of the sign was iffy at best.
Then, make no effort in the chopper establishment shots to match the exact opening they just presented. Not more then 20 minutes later, there is a Strip establishment shot that shows Ballys, with complete signage, in full form. No Olympia, no Rampart ruins, etc.
END OF RANT.

I think alot of you are missing the point of the useless cases and the whole guest star thing. I feel it was designed to have us lower our guards and even lose some interest and then hit us with the ending. During the music scene, my very first thought was CSI just jumped the shark and then I quickly though "oh shit something big is about to happen, death of a character etc." and then it happened. Maybe its just me, or I'm reading too deep into it but it worked for me.

The last ten minutes were better than the rest of the episode. So why didnt marg get the hell out of there right away?
I think it was set up like that so they could continue it.

I was bored by the cases and dozed off the last 10 minutes. Guessed I missed a bunch.

As soon as John Mayer started playing, I started fast forwarding. Unfortunately, they had to throw in some PLOT during the song, so I wound up having to watch it anyways... :-(
At least that's still not as cheap of a move as the online "extra" that CSI: Miami had which was basically a 3-minute hummer commercial, then a reveal of something we knew anyway...

(also not understanding the Jorja Fox hate either.)

I watched this for just the second time ever. I guess I don't see that it is something I will watch much. I wasn't really sure why, but then it hit me. This and shows like Law and Order don't have an "AHA!" moment. They just slowly go about collecting evidence, follow up leads, and eventually get the story straight. No big deal. No real excitement.
When I compare that to shows that I actually do enjoy like Monk, Bones, Phych, etc. there is a point in the show when the characters finally figure out what is going on and lots of little clues finally make sense.
But in CSI it seems that, "Yep, kind of thought it might be suicide, and it was....the leads when nowhere." and "Looks kind of dangerous to be backstage, and turns out that it was and she died." Well, how exciting....the cases both turn out to be exactly what they look like.
I thought it was stupid to have 2 cases that turn out to be exactly what they appear to be in the same show, so I go and watch CSI:NY. Pretty minor twists, but there is still nothing that creates a surprise. The lab investigation really gives them everything they need. I just found them boring and uneventful. Probably pretty true to life, but I don't want true to life....I want to be entertained.
I have them ready to record and I think I will give them each 2 more shows to see if the formula changes any.

C.S.I. is very much about the journey, not the destination. It always has been. It is about the forensics and HOW they go about solving a crime, not necessarily about the crime itself...if that makes sense.
I wish they would work in more crimes w/o a dead victim. I find those more intriguing, but maybe that's because they are so infrequent.

Who's Danny B?
Warwick asks to see the Medal of Valor that Brass was given. Brass shows him the plaque, and Brass is a little mad at himself for getting shot (Warwick wondered why Brass hadn't put it on the wall).
Nick and Catherine go to a bar and John Mayer is slumming for a night and Nick and Catherine dance for a while. Later Brass is shown to get the date of him getting shot tattooed just under the bullet wound. After the first song, Nick started dancing with another younger blonde hottie, and Catherine went back to the bar, the bartender said some guy wanted to buy her a drink, she look at the guy, and declined the drink. Catherine stays at the bar, drinking a bit, seeing Nick getting him some brings a smile to her face, then it gets hazy for her and the guy she declined is shown drinking a beer at the bar, Nick is shown to wave goodbye to Catherine as he leaves with the younger blonde. Then Catherine winds up in some room, naked, face down, and then wakes up and goes all MacGuyer with her homemade rape kit to collect the evidence of a night she does not remember.
There was also a bit with Grissom and Sophia at the house of a murder, and there's a model of the house and a recreation of the murder scene inside the model house.
