Sounds like a real bitch to me. Have you considered a divorce?

I just IMDB'd her to see which one she was, and yeah, she's hot too... Did you know she was in 'Iron Eagles'? I'm trying to remember which girl 'Catie' was... (or whoever she played, can't remember now).

When I first heard what this episode was going to be about, a week or two ago, I said that as long as they include Michael spouting off a "that's what he said" somewhere in the episode, in some way, then I'd be happy. It went the entire episode without it, and I was sorta let down since it was such an obvious joke, so when he finally did it at the end, it really cracked me up.

Watched the episode for a second time today...and STILL laughed out loud!

Some other lines..
"Could Oscar & Angela be having a gay affair?"
"I dont care if you are gay or staight or a lesbian or overweight (pan to Phyliss), everyone in the conference room right now"

Truly classic stuff...One show with so many quotable lines~
The office manager in Jim's new branch was Chip for "Whose Line is it Anyway?" (another one of my all time favorite shows--which I wish would be out on DVD already!)
Can not wait till next week..I need my office fix!

I think she missed the point somewhat. It wasn't funny because it was unexpected as much as it was funny because of Michael's perfect delivery.

Oh, and don't divorce her. She watches The Office, so she has many redeaming qualities.

Michael: You don’t call retarded people “retards.” It’s bad taste. You call your friends “retards” when they’re acting retarded. And I consider Oscar a friend.

Dwight (while looking at gay porn website): Damn pop-ups!

I think that Angela's entire performance was underrated given everything else going on. Her reactions to everything was hillarious.

Overall, I thought it was a pretty funny episode. And I agree with everyone that says it felt off with Jim's absence and that it should feel off with him not around. But the writers need to be careful that it doesn't stay feeling off, even if it's intentional, or they might lose some viewers, although I won't be one that they'll lose.

So, Jim has been away for a few months now, Pam called off her wedding to Roy, and apparently Jim still has some contact with people at the old office. Am I to believe that he does not know about Pam not marrying Roy? Or that since Pam ditched Roy (because of Jim, let's face it), that she has not made any contact with Jim to let him know about the rather big change in her relationship status?

I love the show, but these kind of holes in the plot just don't seem plausible to me.

I think it is totally plausible. Pam broke off the engagement, and probably had not had any direct contact with Jim. Jim, being the nice guy, is probably letting Pam reach out to him when she is good and ready. Curse you for making me type this e-mail like these are real people!

I think it's important to note we're just assuming there hasn't been contact or that there isn't knowledge. The producers may very well just be stringing us a long a little bit before squarely confronting the issue.

If I was Jim there would be dozens of takes of that scene.

Not really. This girl isn't a blonde and doesn't have a mustache.

Really? While I like Pam's character, I really don't find her that attractive. Now Jan...whoa!

Yep, it's a combination of her looks and her character that makes her tops for me.

On a broader subject, I was really worried that the show had jumped the shark with that ending last year. I'm very happy to see that the tension between Jim and Pam is still there, and loved the premiere.

While watching the Ryder Cup, I just saw a new preview for the next episode. Looks like
Spoiler:

Jim will be back in Scranton next episode. The clip mentioned the "return of Jim" and showed him at the airport with Dwight.

At some point they have to resolve the tension between the two or it moves into that unrealistic territory where two young and attractive people's lives are stunted for years while they pine over each other. That ends up killing a lot of sitcoms where the romantic tension between two leads is the primary source of humor. I think The Office has deep enough characters and relationships that it could easily handle the two of them getting together.

Interesting theory. I more often hear, and believe, that sitcoms are ruined when they resolve that tension.

Can you give me an example? Is there any show that got better after the tension was resolved? Or which shows were made worse by the tension dragging on? The list of shows made worse by characters getting together is quite long.

Off the bat, I would say Moonlighting (from way back) got worse and Friends (Ross and Rachel) got better.
