What is your DVR conflict this fall?

I was looking at next week and I see another huge scheduling conflict with shows I want to watch. What is yours?

Tuesday night at 10/9 is going to suck for me. There is Boston Legal, L&O:SVU, Smith and Nip/Tuck, and I only have a 2-tuner DVR. nip/tuck will get picked up at the 11/10:00 slot, so that leaves 3, of which BL is a lock. I may try Smith the first week and if it is good it will be kept.

I think this will be the only slot that I will have conflicts, until Sunday night at 9/8 when Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, The Wire (or other HBO shows) and Sunday night football. But this year with On Demand showing up a week early and The Wire still not in HD that might make Sunday easier.

aktick 09-14-06 10:06 AM

Mine is Thursdays at 7 CST:

-Smallville (just caught up on DVDs and will be watching "live" for the first time)
-Survivor
-My Name is Earl/The Office
-Ugly Betty (wanted to give it a try)

So I'm probably going to record Smallville and Earl/Office in HD, and Survivor in SD. Ugly Betty is probably not going to happen for me, since I've gotta have at least 1 tuner available for other things, like sports.

Michael Corvin 09-14-06 10:18 AM

Not sure if these conflict, I guess I need to double check before next week, but every show I watch except for Lost(well, Scrubs & 24, but those won't start for a while) is on Thursdays. I think I am good, I think at most two of these are on at a time.

Smallville
the Office/ Earl
Grey's Anatomy
C.S.I.
E.R.

Patman 09-14-06 10:58 AM

I'm just glad there are now only 5 main TV networks (plus the occasional FX show to records like Nip/Tuck, Shield). I have the 3 ReplayTVs, so I'll probably have to employ my VCR every now and again starting next week when the real fall TV season starts. It's going to be rough in the early goings this season.

Mok 09-14-06 11:00 AM

I'm worried about Monday, not sure what time Heroes will be on.
Heroes
Prisonbreak
How I met your mother
King of Queens.

Ayre 09-14-06 11:05 AM

The new 10pm shows save me. The most I have at the same time is 2 and that is out of 20 shows. I also expect to whittle the 20 down and add some unexpected ones.

LorenzoL 09-14-06 11:11 AM

The problem days for me are Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays but lucky for me, my cable company has timeshifting and I will be able to resolve my conflicts with it.

girlnextdoor 09-14-06 11:19 AM

Wednesday 9:00pm for us.

but I decided to record the show I watch w/o hubby (CSI NY) in the bedroom instead of den.

Dr. DVD 09-14-06 02:47 PM

Sundays will be easy for me as Sopranos and Entourage are no longer on, so I will be watching Desperate Housewives.

I will probably give a pass to Heroes until it gets yankes and to Kidnapped, My Name Is Earl, and The Office.

Orbi-Wan Techno 09-14-06 04:31 PM

Tuesday:
NCIS and House

Wednesday:
Jericho and Bones

Thursday:
Smallville and The Office

Friday:
Numb3rs and Battlestar... no, wait, recording that at my sis in law's place...

lisadoris 09-14-06 04:39 PM

Tuesday at 9 is the only major conflict:
Veronica Mars
The Unit
L&O: CI

Since I only watch the Noth CI episodes I'll just have to miss The Unit every other week.

Deftones 09-14-06 04:56 PM

Nothing anymore since I get the new DirecTV HR200-250 on Oct. 6th. Now I just need to pick up another HDTV....

Goldberg74 09-14-06 05:15 PM

The fact that I don't have a DVR anymore. :(

JohnSlider 09-14-06 05:18 PM

None, I have a dual tuner TiVo and a VCR, I really wont even need that much, but even if I do need to watch another show at the same time as those are recording, I can still watch something in real time with commercials, so there's no real conflicts... If it does ever come to that, I may have to come to the realization that I do in fact watch too much television.

Quake1028 09-14-06 05:33 PM

I have 2 seperate dual tuners, so I can record 4 or record 3 and watch something else live. Pretty much eliminates all of my conflicts.

No need to bother your sister-in-law at all. On Oct 6, you have a conflict when BSG premieres with a 2 hr episode from 9:00 pm ET to 11:00 pm ET. However that 2 hr episode repeats an hour later at midnight ET-ends at 2:00 am ET so you can tape it then. After Oct 6, BSG is shown at 9:00 pm ET (with the midnight replay) so no conflicts at all.

If anyone has a conflict involving Heroes (9:00 pm ET-Mondays on NBC) and can wait a few days - its being reshown on Sci-Fi Friday evenings at 7:00 pm ET.

3 DirecTiVos, 6 active tuners, over 200 hours (modified) recording capacity
Local network affiliates (ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, CW, PBS)
NY & LA distant network affiliates (ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox)

Conflicts ? I'd llike to see 'em try :D

Deftones 09-14-06 06:24 PM

Nice to know about Heroes, but it won't be in HD on Sci-Fi, though.

critterdvd 09-14-06 10:46 PM

I live in the dorms so I have an oldfashioned DVR - a cable splitter, lol... and really my only conflict is on thursday... but i've decided to watch channel 7, and netflix the dvds to smallville/supernatural/the oc

woohoo!!! another tv recording freak. :D

with 2 Dual tuner DTivos, my DVD recorder with an HDD(and TV Guide Plus), and my HTPC(dual 250GB HDDs) I'm pretty good on this front. I'm planning on upgrading to a dual tuner card for the HTPC soon just in case as well. I can hold around 475Hrs(at best quality) total between them all. I think I'm ready for now. :)

Jadzia 09-15-06 12:55 AM

I have 3 dual tuner Tivos, but I consider any time slot with 3 or more shows to be a conflict because then I have to juggle where I record and watch my shows which can sometimes be a hassle.

So my 3-way ties this season are:

* (new shows I am sampling and could be dropped)

Monday 8pm
The Class/How I Met Your Mother
Prison Break
Wife Swap

Monday 9pm
Runaway*
Vanished*
Heroes*

Tuesday 8pm
Gilmore Girls
House
Friday Night Lights*

Tuesday 9pm
The Unit
Veronica Mars
Knights of Prosperity*
Standoff*

Tuesday 10pm
(Boston Legal & Smith not really a conflict since Nip/Tuck repeats)

Wednesday 9pm
Lost
Justice
Biggest Loser

Thursday 8pm
Ugly Betty*
Survivor
Smallville
My Name is Earl/ The Office

Thursday 9pm
Grey's Anatomy
CSI
Supernatural

Friday 9pm
Men in Trees*
Close to Home
Trading Spouses

JimmySRU 09-15-06 11:52 AM

Now that Law and Order is gone from Wednesdays, that cleared up.

I guess, this could be an issue for me, if you add in that one new show w/ Matthew Perry. I think until the OTA tuners get activated on the new DirecTV HDDVR, it will be an issue.

Draven 09-15-06 02:05 PM

So far, I'm good. Got the dual-tuner HD Tivo working overtime downstairs, but the bedroom dual-tuner SD picks up the slack.

We'll see how it goes once the shows really ramp up.

dhmac 09-15-06 05:33 PM

It's funny that last year I had a lot of conflicts, but this year not any - even though I'm watch mostly all of the same shows again.

This Year:
SUNDAY: American Dad & Family Guy
MONDAY: (nothing)
TUESDAY: NOVA & Veronica Mars (only a conflict if NOVA is a 2-hour special episode)
WEDNESDAY: LOST
THURSDAY: My Name Is Earl & The Office & Supernatural (last year: conflict; this year: no conflict)
FRIDAY: Battlestar Galactica
SATURDAY: (nothing)

(Although I own two DVRs to resolve conflicts, this is the first season I really only need one of them.)

sven 09-16-06 01:20 AM

Dont have any. 1 dual tuner is enough to get every single show I watch.

Mondays
Prison Break, How I Met Your Mother, and Studio 60

Tuesdays
Veronica Mars

Wednesdays
Jericho, Lost, and South Park

Thursdays
The Office, My Name Is Earl, Survivor, CSI, Greys Anatomy

Sundays
The Wire

eatntae 09-16-06 12:29 PM

I have a dual tuner HD DirecTivo downstairs and a dual tuner SD DirecTivo upstairs. If I didn't want to watch all my shows in HD, I wouldn't have this conflict:

Monday - Vanished, Heroes, and Monday Night Football.

I'll probably move vanished to SD since I don't find the show to be THAT good, but I'm already committed to it after watching the first 4 episodes.

Rypro 525 09-16-06 07:45 PM

for those that dvr football in hd, wouldn't that be a big space killer?
my only conflict is tuesdays at 9 with the unit and veronica mars but i have 2 dvrs and 2 hdtv's , so no problem for me.

At least I don't feel so bad about my post now:

3 DirecTiVos + 1 MPEG4 receiver = 7 tuners (3 HD) + LA feeds for 3-hour shifts.

Conflict this!

Mine is Wed.
Dancing with the Stars
Lost
Jericho
America's Next Top Model

America's Next Top Model usually runs again during the week doesnt it? Does anybody know when that will be?
Maybe the conflict will get better when DWTS stops being 2 hours, and ANTM is also 2 hours at first~

Sunday's @ 9...

Red Dog 09-19-06 08:49 AM

With the ability to record 4 shows at once, I won't have any problems. I really haven't looked at the final schedule grid in detail, but I think my busiest hours are probably...

Tuesday at 10 (BL, SVU, Nip/tuck) and
Thursday at 8 (Survivor, Earl/Office, Smallville, and Ugly Betty (if I like it)).

boredsilly 09-19-06 11:59 AM

So far the only one I can see is Smallville/The Office/Survivor Thursday night. Since Smallville has always been just a show I watch, never really love, that will get bumped. I'll either catch up through dvds or other means.

OldDude 09-19-06 12:02 PM

I don't have nearly the recording capacity some of you do. I'm only OK if I'm home to watch one, and DVR another. Then I only have two hours of "third choice" this week which I have to VCR.

When season is underway, as many as five hours might get "third choiced" to VCR. Hopefully, I'll hate some of them.

Doughboy 09-19-06 01:10 PM

2 HD-DVRs and 1 Tivo in the house. Not to mention that wonderful invention called BitTorrent. I think I'm set, especially with hardly any new shows worth checking out IMO.

Patman 09-19-06 01:35 PM

I'm counting on Fox's October baseball playoff coverage to ease my conflicts at certain times in the week (Tuesday and Thursday, mainly). I'm going to limp along with my other 2 VCRs for potential conflicts (mainly between NBC shows and CW shows in the 8-10 timeslot).

SkipKassidy 09-26-06 11:29 PM

CBS on Sunday nights

Sorry if this topic has been brought up before, but is there anyone else who has problems recording shows on CBS on Sunday nights?

I live in Texas and almost always during football season the games run late, thus forcing my DVR timers to be off by 10, 15 , or 20 minutes. Not cool since I record both Cold Case and Without a Trace.

Yep, it sucks.

I set up a recurring manual recording for CBS 11pm-12am in order to catch any overrun. I also record Amazing Race as well so I just watch the overrun for each show on the next recording and then I have the manual recording catch any overrun for WaT that I can immediately delete if it there wasn't a delay that week.
