Standoff - Series Premere 9/5/06

HOSTAGE NEGOTIATORS MIX BUSINESS AND PLEASURE
ON THE SERIES PREMIERE OF "STANDOFF"
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, ON FOX

STANDOFF centers on Matt Flannery and Emily Lehman, top-ranked FBI crisis negotiators who are forced to come clean about their secret relationship after it is revealed during a tense hostage standoff that they are sleeping together. Too valuable as a team to be split up, they are now under the watchful eye of their boss and their colleagues. STANDOFF combines the crackling romantic relationship at its core with intense drama and humor as these negotiators vow not to cross the line and let their personal feelings get in the way of the job. But they learn quickly that, in life and in love, everything is a negotiation in "Pilot" episode of STANDOFF premiering Tuesday, Sept. 5 (9:00–10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (SOF-101) (TV-14; D, L, V) CC-HDTV 720p-Dolby Digital 5.1

Cast: Ron Livingston as Matt Flannery, Rosemarie Dewitt as Emily Lehman, Gina Torres as Cheryl Carrera, Michael Cudlitz as Frank Perry, Raquel Alessi as Lia Mathers.

I'm actually looking forward to this show. I guess the promos are working.

The only thing I'm dreading is Gina Torres being a constant reminder that Firefly is no more.

I'll be watching it tonight mainly because of Ron Livingston and Gina Torres.

Also, I'm hoping that this show will not be as bad as the early reviews have indicated.

Since I've given up on Vanished, I'll check this out to fill the void.

A sniper setting off the airbag. I don't think I've seen that one before.

Yup!

I like how they at least gave him an orangish car.

I liked it, except for Gina Torres, but I'll give her a chance to win me over in a normal role.

I thought it was average at best. I didn't like the relationship angle between the 2 leads. I also didn't like the weak attempt at one liners in the middle of a hostage crisis. The opening scene was kinda weak. I would rather have a serious hostage team show than a relationship drama built around this setting. The whole vibe just wasn't serious enough for me.

I thought the show was above average, and has decent potential. I'll continue to watch just because of Ron Livingston.

I'm adding it to my list of shows that I'll give another chance, but am not expecting much from.

I actually really enjoyed it. The female lead is extremely sexy...and Ron Livingston rules.

Since I'm in college, don't have DVR, and will be in class...is it Standoff or Dancing with the Stars?? Boo.

It beats the everloving shit out of Vanished....though I suppose that isn't saying a whole hell of a lot. I was entertained enough to give it a few more viewings.

Yet another show unworthy of Gina Torres' inestimable labial endowments.

Same here, way better then Vanished..

Cast seems to work well together.. I think the story lines might run out quickly and a hostage in a room/building, them on the street talking on a phone/bull horn etc might get a little old fast. Guess we wait and see.

I also think FOX is not helping the show by running the previews that focus just on action and so on.. Show is much lighter in tone, or at least the pilot ep is, then many of the previews seem to show. Even after this ep the previews for the next few just showed a lot action, no humor..

then again going by what they have done in the past with a range of shows, I'm sure FOX network executives know what they are doing!

I agree with what cdollaz said that this show is average at best. I like Ron Livingston but the chemistry between him and Dewitt's character are nonexistant. I just don't care about the relationship angle.

Also they have wasted Gina Torres's talent by having her stand with a frown on her face and saying ridiculous lines.

With the season premieres of my favorites shows coming up, this show just doesn't cut it for me.

Maybe FOX will add it to their site where you can watch full episodes:

I turned this show off halfway through. I just wasn't diggin' it. The concept of a lovers quarrel amidst a hostage situation was too goofy for my liking.

I was enjoying the show until there was 10 minutes left and my power went out. Hopefully FOX will add this to their streaming site so I can see how it ended.

I turned it off too. I thought it was absolutely dreadful, all the ridiculous arguing. I thought their boss was worse than anyone, and I'm glad to pass on this one.

I made it all the way through, but I don't think I'll watch it again. I didn't find any of the scenarios even slightly believable. Also, I don't think it will last long, because the hostage situations are all going to be pretty much the same and will become tiresome very quickly, especially if they have 2 or 3 per episode.
