Survivor Twist?

From tvguide.com. I'm not quite sure if this is brilliant, or racist.

Survivor to Air in Black vs. White?
"What do you mean the tribe has spoken?!" The publisher of RealityBlurred.com tells the New York Post that "it's pretty much confirmed" that the new edition of CBS' Survivor will pit segregated teams of whites, African-Americans, Asians and Hispanics against each other. (Think The Warriors meets Gilligan's Island.) CBS has no comment on the rumblings, but an announcement regarding the new season's twist will be made on Wednesday's The Early Show. My question: When did Mel Gibson become an executive producer of Survivor?

cdollaz 08-22-06 10:43 AM

Stupid.

Derrich 08-22-06 10:45 AM

And this will last exactly 3 weeks until they merge the tribes.

D

Maxflier 08-22-06 10:52 AM

Yeah, i don't really see the point in dividing up the tribes certain ways anymore since they change/merge the teams so early and often nowadays.

Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. 08-22-06 10:53 AM

this will require them to put on more than 1 black person per season though

Not necessarily. It just guarantees the one they do cast goes home earlier when the tribe-of-one just can't keep up.

If that. Each and every Survivor "twist" doesn't have any real impact on the actual game, which soon becomes the same old thing.

Mopower 08-22-06 11:23 AM

They should have people from different counties that don't speak english. Well except for the American group. Then they have to figure out stuff thru a language barrier. They need to keep this crap going at least so we can have a Survivor: Mars!

magiccmom 08-22-06 11:31 AM

A true twist would be to have them drop their buffs after every tribal council and constantly have new tribes. Alliances would then be pointless and you would have to survive based on your own wits and not ride the backs of the stronger members. Would love to see this done!

Silt 08-22-06 11:33 AM

Hard to believe they would setup the teams like this, but the cast of the new season will be revealed tomorrow....so I guess we should find out for sure then.

aktick 08-22-06 11:37 AM

I want them to have 2 tribes like normal, but all living together the entire time.

That's a pretty good idea.

cdollaz 08-22-06 11:59 AM

Yeah, that is a good idea. They wouldn't really be on tribes, just groups that changed after every TC. That would make it a totally different game as the dicks in the group would have to control themselves or get voted off early. Now they can get by because of alliances/strengths they add to the team. Would definitely make it a much more social/ass-kissing game which would be interesting.

Patman 08-22-06 12:23 PM

Actually, what if they had competitions for tribe captains each time out, and the top 2 would be tribe captains and they had to pick their tribe after each tribal council.

That would bring in more of the social dynamics aspect of the game, then just random chance of pulling out buffs from a jar.

I've been on this bandwagon for awhile. Last season was the worst IMHO, since the alliance went all the way to the end. No backstabbing, no sale!!!

I too have been on this bandwagon.

I also think that the reward challenge should be a tribe immunity challenge as well. The winning tribe gets reward and is safe from tribal council. The loosing tribe comes back for their individual (even better elimination challenge - last one finished goes home) immunity challege. After tribal council they redraw tribes. Once the tribes are merged you could have the individual reward/immunity challenges, with 2 people with immunity at TC up to the final 4 or 5.

I think they seriously need to change Survivor dramatically. It's freakin 12 seasons running, OUR PALATE WANTS MORE

dolphinboy 08-22-06 06:01 PM

There will also be 2 head of households.

Or at least non-Americans. I've been advocating that for years.

movieking 08-23-06 08:51 AM

Was it announced on the Morning Show this morning?

Yep. African-Americans, Asian-Americans, whites (maybe they should be European-Americans? :p ), and...? Not sure if they called them Mexican-Americans or Hispanics. But it's 4 teams of 5.

dadaluholla 08-23-06 10:15 AM

The cast looks like a decent mix of people. This should be interesting. I'm still going through Survivor withdrawl so I will take whatever they offer, even if it is a "race war" theme.

magiccmom 08-23-06 10:28 AM

Gotta admit, I'm a little suprised at the whole race theme...

Joeboo835 08-23-06 11:18 AM

ok, i see the 5 blacks, 5 asians, but the rest look white. am i missing something?

movieking 08-23-06 11:19 AM

So why is CBS.com referring to one player as Virgilio when his name appears to be Billy Garcia? What's up with that? He is the heavy metal guitarist.

My faves right now are the Nail Salon Manager and the Rollergirl.
