Gene Simmons' Family Jewels
I thought that was one of the best, and funniest, reality shows I've ever seen. It was well produced and edited, and the family is great.
It's kind of the Anti-Osbournes. No one's screwed up - Gene's a little goofy, but other than that you've got 4 intelligent, responsible people with great senses of humor.
I'm looking forward to next week's show.

Yeah I work on a radio show where they bought lotsa ads for this show. I don't have cable so I'll have to catch it when I can.
It's funny, Shannon Tweed was the 1st Playboy playmate I ever "fell for" and KISS was the 1st band I ever saw at a rock concert. When I heard that Gene had hooked up with her I was like WOW!

Even though Ms. Tweed looks awesome still at age 49, I guess her soft core porn days are behind her.

I'm wondering if Aunt Tracy will make guest appearances.

OK, this has become my favorite reality show.
I didn't need to see the god of thunder scrubbing a toilet or cleaning a litter box, but damn if this show wasn't funny as hell. I loved that Gene found a KISS shirt at the second hand store for $2, but he couldn't accept that and bought it for $40 using his KISS Visa card.
I wonder if in future episodes we might see Gene plugging KISS Kondoms and KISS Koffins...

I watched this last night and I agree, it's a really good show. Did that cat not look like Garfield, or what?
His son looks a little like Val Kilmer from The Doors movie.
Looking forward to the next episodes...

This show is 1000 times better than the Osbournes. I loved when his son sarcastically said that line about how great it was being a bastard. I wonder if Paul Stanley or any of the other guys will make a guest appearance.

Good to see that there's finally someone on a TV show (In Nick) who represents guys who are 6'7

I have to agree that this show is very entertaining. It has a different feel than other similar shows. Gene is very self-promotional, but also self-deprecating. Nice to see a family not feeling like they need to act as screwed up as possible to make for entertainment. Favorite line was by Gene's son: Dad could sell hookers in a vagina storm.

With Simmons, you would almost expect a family like the Osbornes, and that's why the show works...because it plays completely against what you think. Simmons is a huge rock star who revels in the fact that he's not married and has slept with over 3,000 women. Yet here he is with a very stable family unit, with a woman that he obviously loves and goes very well with, and he has managed to keep his kids grounded.
Of course if you also know that Gene doesn't drink or do drugs (even in the 70's), then maybe this kind of life isn't so surprising.
A&E has another new reality show, Driving Force, where the father and mother are unable to live in the same house, and the three daughters are all spoiled little rich girls. It's an OK show, and John Force can be funny, but he doesn't hold a candle to Gene.
As for Hogan Knows Best, I really only like that show because you get to see the other side of Hogan, but the rest of his family just isn't that compelling to watch. Seeing Hogan away from the Hulk persona is a great dynamic, and then seeing how the years of wrestling and steroids are now catching up to him is kind of sad, especially considering he just hurt his knee and will still be competing at Summerslam next sunday (although many think it's an excuse to explain having to job). Still, this is a 50 year old guy whose had a knee and hip replaced and is still willing to get in the ring, and through this show, you get to see that.
But Simmons kicks his ass in the reality show ring.

BTW, did anyone else notice Gene's daughter was "blessed" with his tongue? Jeez she needs to turn 18 quick!

Missed this the first week, but caught the 2 last night, great show. As mentioned another thread, I can not beleive his son is 6' 7". He said he had a size 16 shoe, but I had no idea he was that tall. How tall is Gene? He is a lot taller than I thought.
I really liked when they were looking under the hood of the Lincoln and Gene makes the "that is what gentiles are for" comment.
