HGTV Design Star...

Anyone watching it, I quite liked the 1st 2 episodes.

http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/pac_ctnt_98..._37553,00.html

the 1st week they positively got rid of the right person, I'm less sure about episode 2.

I was developing a serious crush on Joseph, now that he is gone I am not sure I still want to watch.

I do want to see them go to individual tasks. The group designs are just a mess and you really can't tell who is good or not yet. This should be like Project Runway, not the Apprentice. I want to see who is the best designer, not who is the best leader, or delegater, or who cooperates best with others.

I did get a kick out of the schoolyard style of picking teams, but I think you are correct as far as project runway vs the apprentice.

And in so far as the rooms, I felt that tym and T1/T2 had an easy room, heck all they had to do was paint it white, and rip up the carpet, they did arrrange it better, but they could have done a heck of a lot more with the space, although the mock tudor house was lame.

In the kitchen I would have changed the colour of the cabinets, not antiqued them or at least painted them a lighter yellow, and antiqued that. That wall of cabinets looked horrendous.

The room that lost I'd agree with the judges, they really did nothing to it.

This week was great.
Temple really stepped it up, I loved her clean lines.
And David's was unreal. So far ahead of everyones.

Surprised they got rid of Vanessa, as I think they thought overall she was good, but her little dollhouse thing really did nothing.

My wife and I have been watching the show. We were just about ready to give it up since they kept doing team projects, but this week was what we've been waiting for. Finally a chance to see each individual's talent. We're glad to see Vanessa go since she was so cocky.

finally the judges are starting to see some sense, and are looking at it cumulatively.

I think the only 2 I could watch on a show are David or Angela. Tim could be a carpenter or something and temple would in the end do my head in.

Anyone still watching this show? I'm glad that Temple got the boot. She was an ass and I certainly didn't want to hear about her kids ever again. I'm pulling for Alice to take the gold.

I am, mrs bdb thinks the in style chick hates Temple. She was so negative to her.
Vern is a great judge of the rooms last night I could see myself living in them in this order

David
Temple
Alice ( The colour was the downfall, she should have used less of it.)
Tym

I think it will be Alice or David who win, Alice is pretty good in an aw shucks kind of way.

And yay. Alice and David in the final, not sure yet how america voters, I still like david's style a lot better, and I actually think they would make a great team on a show.

The only thing we know for certain is that HGTV's Next Design Star enjoys the company of men.

You could see it alright, I did like her choice of outfit this week.

Well, I thought Alice made a mistake by doing a kid's room and I wasn't crazy about the execution of the room. With that said, I don't see what's so special about David. The judges have been kissing his ass since day 1 and I just don't see why. His room looked like nothing more than what you would see on a Bombay catalog cover. I also got really sick of watching him walk around shirtless. We get it dude, you're in shape. If he wins, hopefully HGTV will make him wear a shirt on his show(No Shirt, No Hosting).

I thought Alice's room was more challenging to do and I thought she handled it very well. Her choice of furniture and accessories was more creative than most of David's room. I think over the run of the show, her design has been very consistent and she is very comfortable in front of the camera. She's getting my votes.

I'm torn, I really have liked David's style throughout the show, I find that it would transfer much easier into real life, but having said that I prefer alice as a host.

I think she erred in doing a kids room, and it didn't look very well put together at all.
I did like the use of adult furniture, but david's room had a much more clean look.

I like David's style better, but Alice seemed more easy-going on cam. Hated the writing above the kid's beds. Honestly, I don't care who wins.

Alice's room looked like a big mess to me. Everyone says she is so great on camera, but I just don't see it-- she comes off as awfully insincere when she is presenting. I don't care for the sweet as pie Southern belle thing.

I like David's style and he is much more subdued on camera. I don't think I would watch a show he hosted either but he gets my vote over the cloying Alice.
