Your 2 worst "Reality" TV pet peeves
1) Simulated flashing "recording" red lights in the corner of the screen that make idiots believe it's real, uncut, raw home footage.
2) Subtitles that give it a "real" raw, feel...
Wow, if any show has these two elements, it MUST be real and uncut.

"And....(10 second pause)... the person i've chosen to go home tonight...(10 second pause)....is.......(10 second pause)......going to be.......(10 second pause)......." [FADE TO COMMERCIAL]
"To me it's not about the money". Yeah, why are you on this show?

1) The sterotypical characters (this is more done in editing IMHO, namely, the director/editor are trying to make a person into a character through clever editing)
2) The previews: They're awful. It's always going to be the "most shocking thing ever happens next week" (But it's not always Reality TV that does this, but they seem to be the main culprits)

1. That shows like Survivor and Amazing Race are referred to as reality shows rather than game shows.
2. This need to have a diverse cast, yet in Survivor and Amazing Race, you never see foreigners competing, even though I think that would add a very interesting wrinkle.

1) That these people feel they are owed more than their 15 minutes of fame, (2) and that the viewing public makes them instant celebrities.

The beautiful people mentality of MTV.
Finding love on a reality tv show, the bachelor proves that it just doesn't work.

1) recaps - they waste so much time, up to half the episode or more sometimes, showing clips of what happened last week (or the past several weeks).
2) previews - they waste so much time showing clips that hype what's coming up in future episodes, without really telling you anything about what's coming up (because if they did that we'd realize it was really a boring "twist" and not shocking in the least).
As a result of these two things, it often seems that less than half an episode is new footage. I've got better things to do than watch the same footage of people I don't care about making an alliance/having a fight/crying/whatever, over and over again.
