Dilana's hopping thing was lame. Totally reminded me of Screech and Lisa's dance "The Sprain" on saved by the bell....her propagandhi inspired cover of cheap trick was shit...I love how they kept showing her face while people were playing. I think she's starting to realize 'oh fuck, I might not have this thing wrapped up'...Lukas can't write or sing a song to save his life...on the other hand Toby has totally made me a believer. That guy is funny...and good...

I was just kidding. That was a classic line. My wife was dying from that comment (although she is a freakishly big SBTB fan). One day you should post some of your band's material. I'm sure it's better than what's on the radio right now. |
HEy...I don't think it would be allowed on the radio!...We were a hardcore punk rock band...you can check it out at www.myspace.com/newworldonfire
for now, I've formed a total joke shitty punk/thrash band called 'a canadian werewolf in...' which i sing (if it can be called that) in rather than play guitar... you can hear the worlds worst demo and see a video from our first show at www.myspace.com/canadianwerewolf |
I've been sick, so I haven't had a chance to post anything about this last week, but I wanted to get my two cents in. First, I don't like how Supernova selectively calls people out for something but allows someone else doing the same thing to slide. The biggest example I can think of for that is in regards to the criticisms about Dilana's song lyrics. Now I'm not saying that her lyrics are good, but Gilby keeps saying that her lyrics are too specific. And yet they say nothing about Lukas' song in that regard. I thought his song was pretty crappy and couldn't have been more obvious or unsubtle. And yet they say nothing.
I was really impressed with Storm's original song. I thought it was the best of the bunch. And though I am not that big of a Toby fan, I have to hand it to him that his original was pretty catchy and he's looking like more and more of a lock for Supernova. He just seems to have what they are looking for, though I kinda find him boring for the most part. As for Dilana, her music knowledge does nothing but baffle me. So, she had never heard "Walk the Line" and had only heard the Limp Bizkit version of "Behind Blue Eyes" and yet the song that she chose for her elimination performance last week? "Psycho Killer" by Talking Heads. Now, granted, I'm no die hard Talking Heads fan but I had NEVER heard of that song and neither had my friends who watched the show with me. Very strange. |

Toby is my favorite for the opposite of what you said. I think he is so entertaining and brings songs to life. My money is on him. |
I heard of Pyscho Killer before I knew who the talking heads were. It was one of their radio hits
Hell, there was even a parody of it called Psycho Chicken, which got a ton of airplay on the Dr. Demento show back in the late 80s. Dilana is a musical dunce, plain and simple. She should not be singing. Not in public. She is kind of like a talentless female George Clinton. |
^^^ Well, I looked up the track on Rhapsody and it was on a 1977 album, the year I was born. So, if it got a lot of radio play during that time, I wouldn't have known about it. When I think of Talking Heads hits, I think of some of their '80s stuff first. And as for Dr. Demento, I don't think there is even a radio station where I live that has ever had that show.
And surely you aren't saying that George Clinton, one of funk's pioneers, is talentless! |
Spoilers for the final performance show
Spoiler:
|
No suprise who got the fan favorite, they should be IN the finale.
Interesting choices, but again, way too much repetition. Magni is taking a HUGE risk singing a not-so-well known song. He must feel he'll be in the finale regardless. Well I think that Dilana is going home, no matter what. |

It was actually "Ring of Fire". To me, admitting you've never heard that is even worse than not hearing "walk the line". |

I actually think Loukas will do a good job with his song selection.
I think Dilana is gonna put her Dilana spin on hers, but I dont think there is to many ways to spin this song. |

That reality show segment was strange where Dilana and Lukas both fought for a song and neither one ended up doing it!

Regardless, I think Dilana was lying when she said she'd never heard Behind Blue Eyes as done by the Who.
I think there are as yet undiscovered tribes in Papua New Guinea that would be aghast at Dilana's apparent ignorance of classic rock. |
